This is driving me crazy... Please give me your (very honest!) opinion

Boy's names... I thought they were sorted. (I was wrong. Let's hope the girl's names stay sorted...)

Based on your last few posts (which seem like you've gone off of Anton) I'm moving my vote to Hector. It's really not overly posh these days, but cool and classic.
I think I've gone off Anton but now like Anthony (nn Tony)? Yes, I'm confusing myself. And DH is basically just staying away from me and my notepad and ruler (to scratch off names....)

I'm not a fan of John, sorry. But it's a cute nn?

Love Maximillian and it can be shortened to Maxi or Max or Maxim!!

Just seen someone's suggested Conrad, which I LOVE. Also you might like Anselm, Benedict, Christian, Frederick, Marcus.

Not a fan of Nathaniel (and it's the godfather's name...). Roderick has too many rs.

Henrick is nice. But there are Henrys in DH's family (and Henrik/Heinrichs in mine...)

Yeah your right, I've never heard of that name in my life, but we all have different tastes things would be boring if we all like the same thing! Copernicus could be the middle name Wink

I like Antonin (had heard of it before) and Anton.

Prefer Gregor to Gregory, I think. Jonathan is a classic. Cedric doesn't really do it for me. Prefer Maxim to Maximilian and Julian to Julius.

You might like Nathaniel, Roderick, Hendrick?

Well, no. I think it's a lovely name. And if Castor wasn't the stomach loosening oil in the UK...

And whilst I'm definitely brave enough... No need to make things intentionally difficult for a LO, right?

I love Gregor though! Know an adult Gregor (in his 20s) and he was a cool guy, always called Gregor never shortened to Greg

"If you love the name then go for it"... Ah, Idk. It's a lovely sentiment. But I like Castor and Copernicus. And Uriel... Maybe not ;)

Love Anton, but if you live in an English speaking country I imagine he'll often be mistaken for Anthony.

I like Gregory (but prefer Gregor) and Jonathan. Maximilian OK, but prefer Maxwell.

Cedric doesn't appeal.

You don't need to pick a Scottish name and most kids are lovely but there's always going to be those wee terrors that pick on others but tbh that could happen wether you called a child Cedric or not! If you love the name then go for it that's all that matters! It's not a BAD name it's just not my cup of tea! I'm Scottish but neither of my children have Scottish names, but they are fairly common names though! Sorry if the phrase 'slagged' was a bit much I should have said 'picked on' for eg, need to watch my slang on these forums Blush

So what definitely wouldn't work is telling people in Scotland that you wanted to give your DS a Scottish name and then telling them you chose Cormac.

OOps. It's Scottish according to one of these naming websites...
I think? Wait, I'll google it. Oops, apparently Cormag is Scottish but Cormac is Irish? Blush

I think it will have to be a decision between Jonathan, Gregory and Hector and maybe Cormac... (I really like Hector. So glad DH suggested that). Although not sure I want a name to be "posh", tbh Blush

Menzies sounds like the word for your period in my native language Blush
