Hello, thoughts on Wendy? We have a Betsy. We absolutely adore it. She's almost 6 weeks, so time is getting short. Thanks!

Aderyn2016 · 07/04/2017 19:32

One of the ugliest names ever - don't do it OP.

ChippieFishieHorshie · 07/04/2017 19:29

Gwen...

Well, my mobile doesn't seem to like "Gwen". It keeps changing it to Gewn... Confused

ChippieFishieHorshie · 07/04/2017 19:29

*Gewn....

ChippieFishieHorshie · 07/04/2017 19:28

Gewndolyn? Nn Gewn or Wendy?

I like the name. But I think Wendy and Betsy are very "same-y"...

AmysTiara · 07/04/2017 19:19

No no no

MollyHuaCha · 07/04/2017 19:15

How about Wendolyn?

autumnboys · 07/04/2017 19:00

It's my first name and I love it. It's unusual-ish but people can spell it. I find the mumsnet wendied thing irritating, but I've never come across it anywhere else. There's not many in my generation and I expect there will be fewer again in hers. Smile

guiltynetter · 07/04/2017 18:56

it's so old fashioned and i can't imagine it ever coming back! i work with a wendy in her 20's and i always think that it's a old fashioned name on her, never mind a baby!

Logolphin · 07/04/2017 18:53

How about Lucy or Katie?

lalaloopyhead · 07/04/2017 18:53

It is a bit old fashioned I'm afraid, and I think it is a name I would associate with someone a bit drippy.

Asking MN probably not your best bet as the majority will probably think of 'being wendied'.

Hellofromme · 07/04/2017 18:52

Baaaad.

Logolphin · 07/04/2017 18:51

Bendy Wendy

Logolphin · 07/04/2017 18:50

First thing I thought of was being Wendied! Also I find the way Wendy fauns over Peter very annoying, I prefer a strong role model.

How about Susie?

AlakazamAlakazoom · 07/04/2017 18:02

I love it OP, was on our shortlist for DD. Unusual and pretty, & fun Peter Pan link. I'd love to meet a baby Wendy!

muntcunch · 07/04/2017 17:58

Trendy Wendy

TinfoilHattie · 07/04/2017 17:44

I''ve only heard of "being wendied" on Mumsnet.

Wendy is a good choice - everyone knows it so you aren't going to get quizzical expressions, but it's not a popular choice in 2017 so she won't be one of many in her class. Wendy is fine at all stages of her life too.

CaoNiMartacus · 07/04/2017 17:41

I really like it. I have two lovely relatives with this name, so I might be biased.

Oysterbabe · 07/04/2017 17:36

I like it.
Most people in the real world don't know what being Wendied means.

VioletPeggs · 07/04/2017 17:34

Wendy is a total bitch on here.

You'll never get a good response on MN. It's an insult Grin

GuinessPunch · 07/04/2017 17:31

Really awful.

silver1977 · 07/04/2017 17:11

Exactly! People may think that of you if they don't know you though! But nobody else's opinion should alter yours so if you love it go for it, if you have doubts though I would look for alternatives! There are so many lovely girls name to be had that would go lovely with Betsy.

Never heard of being wendied before either Hmm

SuperSix77 · 07/04/2017 16:24

Not too keen on Wendy. Sorry. Betsy's gorgeous though. I'd avoid another 'Y' ending name.

badabing36 · 07/04/2017 16:24

Being wendied is just a mumsnet thing.

I'm not a big fan, but if you like it do it. It's a proper name and it's not offensive, you're baby is 6 weeks old get cracking. No name is going to be universally loved. Once she has a name it will just be her.

Shamoffour · 07/04/2017 16:21

The books there are frequent threads about being Wendied on mumsnet!

Barrytheunicorn · 07/04/2017 16:21

Sorry I'm another one who dosnt like Wendy.
Have you though of other 'ie/y' ending names like
Elsie
Maisie
Emmie / Emmy
