I've only ever met one. Is it awful?

I went to school with one, she'd be in her 30s now. Back then, she had great hair and was very precociously sensible. Very likeable name.
I think Sawalha (likeable too) and Goolia (The Wedding Singer, Drew Barrymore, also likeable). I imagine it as having potential to be creative and sophisticated or sweet and friendly.
Hate Julie. Went with Juliette for my DD's middle.

three in their 50's

borntobequiet · 06/04/2017 22:01

My DM, and my lovely niece.
Classy name.

Awks · 06/04/2017 22:01

John Lennon's mum was called Julia #handyfact

Awks · 06/04/2017 22:00

I'm a Julia and I love my name.

CaoNiMartacus · 06/04/2017 21:58

I've only ever met excellent Julias, and one lovely Ukrainian Yuliya.

ElizaDontlittle · 06/04/2017 21:50

2 who are older - 40ish and 50s. It's a pretty name, though I am much less keen on Julie.

YerTiz · 06/04/2017 21:48

I know an 18 month old Julia. Must admit it felt unusual when I heard it at first, but it suits her and she's a darling.

CactusFred · 06/04/2017 21:46

I do and she's 44!

Queensparkles · 06/04/2017 21:43

I don't know any!

Bellaposy · 06/04/2017 21:33

ShoutOutToMyEx · 06/04/2017 21:06

I love the name Julia. Really pretty.

DizzyDigestive · 06/04/2017 21:02

I know 1 Julia who is about 53. My DS is Julian.
I prefer Juliette but Julia is still a nice name

Wayfarersonbaby · 06/04/2017 20:57

I know a few Julias in their late 30s/early 40s, and a baby Julia - it's a lovely name. Very classic!

LBOCS2 · 06/04/2017 20:56

I know one very cool Julia who is an interior designer and lovely and extremely capable. She's probably in her late 40s, early 50s now.

I also have a 4yo Juliet, who is funny and smart and beautiful. And I'm not at all biased ;)

DorcasthePuffin · 06/04/2017 20:53

Yes, ranging in age from 8 to 75. I think it's a lovely name.

MaidenMotherCrone · 06/04/2017 20:50

The one I've met was known as Dewdrop by family and Jules by friends.

Yep my lovely SIL, so my DD also has it as a middle name.

LinaBo · 06/04/2017 20:45

Oh yes, reading this thread I remembered I know another 2 from DD's school, both Polish and 7/8 year olds. Grin

barefoofdoctor · 06/04/2017 20:24

There are a couple of toddler Julia's where I live. Lovely name, not too 'ordinary' but not at all 'far out'. Juliette is also lovely.

SwedishEdith · 06/04/2017 20:21

This is my image of a Julia - from Brideshead Revisited in the 80s.
