Found out we're having a boy and we don't like any names!!

We had loads of lovely girls names in mind, I was convinced we would be told it's a girl and DH had even joked that we'd be screwed if it was a boy as he'd have to be nameless.

When we had DS we found out at 16 he was a boy and by the time I had him at 39 weeks we still hadn't agreed on a name, I didn't feel strongly about anything. My DH named him, it was a name I didn't even particularly like but I didn't like anything else either.

So now we are faced with naming another boy and we're in the exact same situation.

DH has come up with a few suggestions that he likes: Reece, Cameron and Lewis are his latest but I'm so completely nonchalant about them.

We don't want anything weird or old fashioned but nor do we want something common. I work with babies aged 0-2 and see about 40 new patients a week so at least I know which common names to avoid....but then it makes it harder when my husband suggests names which I know to be really popular and I tell him no for that reason.

Maybe I could just give the baby one of girl'a names? Grin

Why are boys names so hard? Sad

I desperately need inspiration!!!

I think Isaac is probably our second favourite at the moment. DH doesn't like Thomas for the same reason he doesn't like Daniel and Matthew.

I hate the name Oscar.....can't stand it Grin

Isaac goes really well with a one syllable surname, and goes well with your sons name too.
Oscar, Oliver, Joey, felix, Marcus, Thomas?

We decided on DS's name the night before the appointment to register him at 4 weeks, so I feel your pain. By that time, we'd called him a pet name for a month so he was stuck with that for the next five years until he put his foot down and insisted on his proper name.

Louie - I don't like it because it makes me think of Donald Duck and also a member of One Direction who I always found really irritating Grin

Lucas - my best friend has a Lucas and for some reason I really dislike the name anyway.

I just asked DH if he liked the name Matthew but he says he doesn't like it because it's "too old" Hmm

namechange - can I swap my DH for you and then I can call the baby Daniel Grin

I do like Matthew, that's been on my mind throughout the day so I'm going to put it forward to DH when he gets home later. My guess though is that he will think it's too 'plain' as that's why he said he doesn't like Daniel. He said it was "too" safe a choice.

I love William as a name but my sister's son has that name.

I also like Finn, but I don't like Finley or Finlay.

And we're trying to avoid names beginning with an A as we don't want both sons having names starting with the same letters as for some reason I just find it odd Grin

I do like Harrison but I'm not sure if it would be strange to have an Arron and a Harrison because the end letters are the same - they just seem a bit too similar or something Grin

I do keep going back to Lewis and trying to work out if the fact it's practically an anagram of our surname is reason enough to rule it out.

@Writerwannabe83 I am in agreement with you! I loved girls names and had plenty to choose from, but boys I couldn't think of any!!
We liked Harry but in my job (I'm a teacher) I found so many children to be called Harry and unfortunately the job does put you off certain names! We really liked the name Harvey instead as it was similar but slightly more rare but not too out there!
If your husband likes Blaze, why not go for a one letter change and have something like Blake?

It sounds as if the problem is not that there are no names you like - more that there are no names you both like.
Toby and Daniel are both great names, such a shame your DH has vetoed them.
But then I'm not a fan of the name he chose for your first DS or the names on his shortlist for DS2 so clearly I don't share his taste!

Blah I am exactly the same with girls names,
I feel totally indifferent to every name on our list. I really thought we would have a boy this time and had loads of names I loved.

Harrison is a really good name, I agree. Also quite like Harris. (Just so long as they don't get shortened to the ubiquitous Harry).

Reece can be spelled Rhys.
