have been struggling to find a name both my husband and I agree for DD due in the summer.

Stumbled upon Freya and we both really like it and I thought it was unusual. however in googling I discover it's a top 10 popularity on some sites.

With a W surname, I'm trying to avoid anything too popular, Freya W would be a mouthful!

How many baby Freyas do you know?

Never met, or heard of, a Freya.

If you love it then go for it, and agree Rey is a lovely nn

Amaried · 02/04/2017 20:00

Did is in a reception class of 22. There are 2 Freya's.
When she was at nursery there were 3 in her year group (they didn't go to the same school as dd)

Freya is up there in popularity with Olivia, Chloe, Evie and Amelia round here amongst the 4/5 year olds

BadToTheBone · 02/04/2017 15:44

4, from 14 down to 5.

Glossolalia · 02/04/2017 15:42

I think it's a lovely name. We had it on our list for DD.

I don't know any, nor have I heard Freya being shouted at soft play etc. It must not be very popular here!

PurpleTraitor · 02/04/2017 15:39

Several Freya's, all under six. Two Frejas and a Freyja.

I know two. It was in the running for our DD along with Emma. We chose Emma in the end - she would have ended up in a class with another Freya but is the only Emma (and the only one in the school)

BounceBounceSplishSplash · 02/04/2017 15:35

I only know one Freya and she's 40yrs old.

Addley · 02/04/2017 15:34

One of my family members just named their cat Freya.

I told them this doesn't bode well for their soft furnishings.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 02/04/2017 15:31

My dds best friend is called Freya, don't know any others and think its very pretty name.

I don't think having a popular name is the end of the world, my dd has a 'popular' name but for me its a classic and suits her.

harderandharder2breathe · 02/04/2017 15:24

I know 2, one aed about 6, one about 9

Rockaby · 02/04/2017 14:37

I know three but they are all between 5 and 7. I don't know any baby Freyas at all.

Summerisdone · 02/04/2017 13:14

I know of 4 children 5 and under called Freya. I also know a few other people who had it as a top five choice but ended up having boys.
It really is a lovely name though so I understand the popularity

coursesforhorses · 02/04/2017 12:24

Two of my four best friends both called their babies Freya

A distant family member called her baby Freya

An old childhood friend who I'm no longer in touch with has a Freya

A colleague called her baby Freya

All born in the last 3 years or so

Before Freya, everyone seemed to choose Isabella

MonkeyBrainsInPickle · 02/04/2017 12:23

I know one aged three.
