Opinions on/Rate our boys shortlist

Posted a boys names shortlist a month or so back and since then we have managed to refine it a bit further.

Neither DH or I 'love' any of these names the way we do with our chosen girls name but we both like all of the below enough to consider them. I'm hoping if it is a boy we will know the right name/grow to love the name..

Alexander
William
Angus
Finlay
Fraser
Ben (Benjamin on birth cert)
Charlie (Again I would put Charles on birth cert but DH says he hates Charles so this may be a stumbling block)

That's interesting, I knew of a few Frasers growing up in Scotland so never perceived it as American sounding, do others perceive it be a more American name?

If went with William nn would be Will (quite like Bill too for when older)

Alexander - I'm not sure I like Alex enough as a shortening which is a problem. I quite like just Al, or Sandy or maybe even Sacha. I also like Alexander as a full name in itself. But realistically I guess they are most likely to be Alex?

Alexander - I dont like Alex so its a no for me
William - love it but prefer nickname Will over Billy
Angus - no reminds me of cows
Finlay - love it
Fraser - I dont know why but I dont like it
Ben (Benjamin on birth cert) - Love it
Charlie - no

Alexander - so many (my youngest DP is this and he is one of 6 Alex's in his year)
William - love it
Angus - love it
Finlay - Boring
Fraser - too American for me
Ben - my dad's name and my son's middle name, however I do find it quite bland for a first name - sorry!
Charlie - irrationally dislike, even more so Charles.

I like Angus and Fraser.

The Williams I know get teased with Willy and Ben/Charlie/Alex are very very popular already.

allthebestnames I would have thought Alexander and William are the two most popular/most likely to have multiples but curious if that's not necessarily the case? Finlay is a more traditional name in Scotland (where I'm from, although we live in England) but I did wonder whether it's seen as a bit more modern/fashionable down here?

Biased as I have an Alex(ander) albeit he is a grown up one. there were a couple of others in his class.

I work in a school and all your others are very popular names of which there are multiples if that matters. There are even a couple of Anguses (and we are in the SE).

I prefer the more traditional names and I fear that Finlay falls into Katie Hopkins' Tyler category Grin

Alexander: it's nice but too popular imo
William: lovely
Angus: Love it, but I always see Anus... :(
Finlay: It's ok
Fraser: I like it

William - like, love Will.
Angus - okay
Finlay - not for me.
Fraser - really like, not overly used.
Ben - good strong name, really like this name too.
Charlie -not for me.
