Help with boys names, I love Wilfred and Edward...

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on boys names for us? Found out we are having a boy yesterday and were convinced we were having a girl, so a little bit thrown!

My favourites are Wilfred (Wilf or Freddy) and Edward (Ed, Eddy or Ted, Teddy)...just just wondering if there are any other suggestions of similar, old/traditional names?

I like longer names which can be shortened, so that the baby has a bit more choice when he's older. I love Jamie, but I'm not sure it's as much of a grown man's name, and don't like James..

Going to try and convince DH on either Wilfred or Edward, but just wanted to check there's nothing I've missed Smile

Grumpy Stanley is on my list too! Smile

clevername we had lots for girls, but our favourites were Charlotte, Ariana, Scarlett and Tabitha.

I keep looking at other boys names, but to be honest I don't think I like anything as much as Edward or Wilfred, so will be convincing DH over the coming weeks, as he's on the fence at the moment I think!

I love Wilfred. I know a Wilf and he has a little brother called Stanley. Great names.

Wilfred and Edward are the two names on my boys list so it goes without saying that I love them! I love them so much that we're not really bothering to find any more alternatives...

Girls names, on the other hand, are turning out to be really tricky. I like a few but don't love any and I don't feel anywhere near as strong about them as I do Wilf / Ed etc! Can I be nosey and ask what your girls choices were, seeing as we seem to have similar tastes!

(must get round to posting my own thread about my own dilemmas!)

I like both of those. Sadly we can't use either as one is already in use in the family (and we have agreed no family names) and the other doesn't go with our surname.

Others I like, although not all are 'shortenable'

Congratulations! Conrad is an underused classic. Also loving Anthony at the moment.
