Help with boys names, I love Wilfred and Edward...

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on boys names for us? Found out we are having a boy yesterday and were convinced we were having a girl, so a little bit thrown!

My favourites are Wilfred (Wilf or Freddy) and Edward (Ed, Eddy or Ted, Teddy)...just just wondering if there are any other suggestions of similar, old/traditional names?

I like longer names which can be shortened, so that the baby has a bit more choice when he's older. I love Jamie, but I'm not sure it's as much of a grown man's name, and don't like James..

Going to try and convince DH on either Wilfred or Edward, but just wanted to check there's nothing I've missed Smile

I really dislike Wilfred-I've never met one so maybe if I did it'd sound more like a real name! I also think Stanley is an awful name. They're both dreary and dull.

Edward is lovely though.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 22/04/2017 08:33

Lawrence Edward goes well OP.

kookiecookie3 · 22/04/2017 06:57

I have a Stanley, but I love Wilfred if baby was a boy that would be on my list.

Flushedwithsomething · 22/04/2017 05:01

We have a Wilfred, it is SUCH a great name... so many nicknames! He is Wilf, Wilfie, Wilfred, Fred, Freddie and many others which would totally out me. Do it!

ladylunchalot1 · 22/04/2017 04:34

I have a jack Edward

GinIsIn · 22/04/2017 03:38

Theodore

And I'm going to go left-field and throw in:

Ooh Grumpy, I wonder if we know the same Wilf and Stanley? Some great name suggestions here, I think.

oliversmummy26 · 18/04/2017 14:06

I think our favourites at the moment are Edward and Lawrence...which I love together, so I think we have our two names there, just need to decide on the order, though I'll be rooting for Edward as a first name to get my Eddy/Teddy Smile

Theodore - Teddy
Jameson or Jamison - Jamie or Sonny
Edison
Wilson
Addison
Harrison (all possible 'Sonny's! I 💗 Sonny as a shortened nn)
Love Wilfred - Wilf too.
Stanley
Sidney

They are both lovely names, if you did still want any more suggestions I love both of them and I also love Bertram (Bertie) and Sydney (Syd).

Leeds2 · 05/04/2017 18:17

The Wilfred I know has a brother called Gilbert (known as Gil).

mygorgeousmilo · 05/04/2017 18:14

Love Wilf

Taranta · 04/04/2017 20:01

I've got a Wilfred and a Caspar. Wilfred has become Wilfie. Love the name. Go for it!

oliversmummy26 · 30/03/2017 11:44

Thansk Banana Wilfred is definitely winning for me at the moment, I think because it's a little bit more different, also not something anyone in RL has suggested to me yet.

Wilfred is brilliant. Edward is also lovely but Wilfred wins.

Other ideas:

My two are called Wilfred and Gabriel. Wilfred is a great name and flexible as they get older. I wanted an Ezra.

Hmm, I might have to add Jameson/Jamie to the list, and Wilbur, had forgotten about that, gorgeous name!

Love Freddy but not sure on Frederick which is why I was leaning more towards Wilfred..
