DD arrived 5 weeks ago, and after about 10 days we buckled to Pressure and named her Grace, we both like it but neither of us love it, I feel like we've settled for a common name, and want to change it.
Her brother and sister have great names that we love and I feel I owe it to baby to give her an equally awesome name (in my opinion!)

I love Xanthe.... however can't use it as its very similar to my DS, Xavier.

I like different names, ones that you meet few and far between and that have good nicknames.

So we have Xavier and Trixie already so I like names with an x sound it seems any suggestions on what number 3 could be..... ???

Oh sorry I meant how old is your ds (son) the one who was upset about the name sounding similar.

MrsNuckyThompson · 26/03/2017 04:44

Only one of your names has an 'x' sound so assuming that you don't want the sound so much as the letter?

SuperBeagle · 26/03/2017 04:25

I know a Xia.

It's pronounced zee-ah. Can also be spelt Zia.

Finally decision made and we are both in agreement that it is the PERFECT choice - Xanthe!
We decided that all our concerns were irrelevant and our son would soon get over the X being shared.
Reading everyone's messages here helped too so thank you!
Feels good to give her a name that we love, should have done it from the start. Shame we have a draw full of cards for Grace (not to mention the birth certificates!)

I love Xanthe, and used to wish I were called Maxine, so that's the two X names I would go for.

I love indi but not to keen on India.

CPtart · 24/03/2017 20:42

Zara.

misshoohaa · 24/03/2017 20:18

I really like Zadie, I'll see what DH thinks, I've also been toying with India which was on our shortlist originally as I like Indi (despite its z or x shortcoming!)
I never thought naming children would be so hard, although it the compromising with DH that is the challenge!

Zadie grace sounds nice!

CaipirinhasAllRound · 24/03/2017 13:56

Zadie is cool, like the author Zadie Smith

BertsBlanket · 24/03/2017 13:21

Eliza is great OP. I'd avoid Xanthe if your DS feels it sounds like taking his name.

Eliza Grace would sound good too, so you haven't totally wiped out her original name (if you wanted, obviously doesn't actually matter if you want rid of Grace).

KoalasAteMyHomework · 24/03/2017 10:34

To answer your question OP

The girl's name Ianthe \i(a)-

nthe, ian- the\

is pronounced eye-AH-thee. It is of Greek origin, and its meaning is "violetflower". Mythology: a sea nymph, daughter of Oceanus

Concernedmum4567 · 24/03/2017 10:21

Oh right yes, it's easily done before their 1st birthday.
I think Eliza fits perfect with you other dc.

Sunshineandlaughter · 24/03/2017 06:17

Zephyr is a boys name..

pilotswife · 24/03/2017 04:57

We did register her but you can change it within a year with a section 17 or something. How do you pronounce Ianthe. I like Eliza!
