Elmo (can we? I love Elmo Gabriel ... ....-....) Do children know who Elmo is nowadays? Do you know who Elmo is (I didn't and neither did DH)?
Gabriel (too popular?)

Elmo Gabriel!

I love it! So do I, diddl :(!

Leo is my own nickname (well, one of them). I'd feel really conceited...

Enzo is rather nice... Not as lovely as Elmo, but there's a similarity I like.

Yes, I mean. But it kind of means lisping, doesn't it? So, I'm wondering if lisping can be something positive?

Didn't you also do this exercise in an ancient studies class in school where the teacher told you the meaning of your name? Infront of the whole class?

A friend of mine's was "mother sheep". I was so relieved mine was "lionness" or something..

t may be connected to the given name Emma, or the place of Emmott, Lancashire (now known as Laneshawbridge, but still containing Emmott Hall).

Emlyn is a Welsh male name.

I didn't know this was also an Irish surname... I think it's derived from Emma, right?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Emmet It is an Anglo-Irish surname but is used as a first name in Ireland because Emmet was a nationalist rebel. He gave a very famous speech from the dock after he was condemned to be hanged, drawn and quartered for instigating a rebellion against British rule, in 1803.
Often spelled with two Ts, but the version with one T is also used.

I love the name Milo. But I have sooo many cousins called Milo/Mila/Miro/Mira etc...

Elmore sounds lovely in English, but not in German, unfortunately. But thank you for the suggestions :)

There's an Emmett in Teeilight as well isn't there? That doesn't seem as popular as it was though, and the name is known from other things too, so people might not make the connection.

depriving children of TV.

I wasn't deprived. When I was old enough to go to school I was allowed to watch certain films or educational programmes. Oh, and later I Iiked the first few Harry Potters and my favourite film was lord of the rings when I was a teen. I don't feel like I missed out at all :)

But I like to watch it nowadays.
I like the whole avengers franchise, watched the first few seasons of supernatural and currently love watching Hannibal.
I also like les choristes, Mord ist mein Geschäft, Liebling, Kleinohrhasen, quesqu'on a fait au bon dieu, I liked Troy (because of Brad Pitt) and some other movies. Plus, there's sport! It's sometimes very entertaining. I mean, I like watching it sometimes nowadays. (which was the point of this looong paragraph. Which is silly when one sentence would have been enough...)

But it's crazy how much time watching tv takes.

Sometimes I wish I wouldn't like it ;)...

DH has it easier on that front. He never really went into it.

I agree AllPizzas I loved loved the muppets growing up and watched them on tv. I think it's quite sad that the OP doesn't not know who Jim Henson was

Emmett is a not very often used but very well known Cornish word for tourist. It means "ant" and you do sometimes hear people talk about "bloody emmets" Grin especially in August. However I did work with an Emmett in Cornwall in August and he survived!
