Opinions on double barrelled first names

My boyfriend really likes the name Chloe-Grey as a double barrelled first name but I'm not too sure. I wouldn't mind Grey as a middle name though.

The second name only gets dropped if the person chooses to.
Everyone knows my name is hyphenated, and my full name gets used at all times.

Sorry but I think it sounds like first name-surname rather than a hyphenated first name.

My name is hyphenated but I only ever use it in full on certificates or job applications. Most people dont know it's hyphenated. I actually prefer the second part of my name to the first but I've always been called the first part so it would be weird to change now. Funnily enough my nickname has always been the (much longer) masculine version of the first part of my name.

I don't like them. Occasionally you hear one that is ok, but generally no. They're a bit pointless because the second bit always gets dropped eventually.

Chloe-Grey is awful because Grey is a surname.

I have a hyphenated name, no middle name. I've never had any problems

The only one I like is Mary-Jane. MJ for short. Spider-Man fan
We considered Mary Jane as a double middle name, but avoided it because of the marijuana links Wink Other than that I like it.

I think with a hyphenated name the second part needs to be clearly a first name, so Chloe-Anne Smith is ok, but Chloe-Grey Smith sounds like Chloe Grey-Smith or just Chloe Grey.

Not a fan of the double barrelled first name. I like Chloe. I love Grey. I like Chloe with Grey as a middle name. But not Chloe-Grey.

I agree that it sounds like her full name.
Also there is the association with a certain Mr Grey, I don't think your oh has thought find through.

I do agree that the second name doesn't get used much. We refer to ours as Lily or LR (initials) 90% of the time.

My DD2 is Lily Rose. No hyphen, but both are her first name.

I like them, depending on the names, but I don't like the hyphen.

Not a great fan of two names, I don't mind a good classic of Sarah-Jane but the modern twists are not really for me.
