I have a very gorgeous 6 week old little boy but he doesn't have a name :(

He is 6 weeks old tomorrow and we do have an appointment to register him but I am crossing my fingers that I'm able to change it.

The issue is that we just can't agree. My favourite name is Elliot but he doesn't like it and his favourite is Montgomery (I had never heard of this name before I met him). He seems to like really over the top 'posh' names? Confused my offer was Hugo - I thought that was an amazing compromise! He doesn't like that Confused

I'm struggling massively SadSadSad

I really feel for you!! It's even harder to choose a name when you're under time pressure! I think stick to your guns and wait for a name you both love!

This website above is fab and might help! She has heaps of inspirational lists of baby names in different genres.
She also can help you to pick a name if you decide you want 'expert' help!

Your baby is absolutely delicious btw!!
For what it's worth I think he suits Elliott or Isaac or Hugo.

In my opinion Montgomery/Monty is definitely not a strong name!! It makes me think of thin, weedy, posh, stuttering men that wouldn't say boo to a goose!!!

He could totally be an Eddie. I love that name.

tinypop4 · 13/03/2017 21:30

He is gorgeous! What about Hugh? Less 'posh' than Hugo but still solid and a bit unusual.
Also I've got one and he's super cute Wink

mum2be2boys · 13/03/2017 21:29

Sorry, another post!

Just thought of Benjamin too?

saniner · 13/03/2017 21:19

He's adorable Smile

saniner · 13/03/2017 21:17

Hugo is a great name. So is Monty (not sure on Montgomery- reminds me of Mr Burns from the Simpsons. Eliot is a bit 'meh'

mum2be2boys · 13/03/2017 21:13

Congratulations, he is gorgeous!!

Out of the two I much prefer Elliot. My friend's dog is called Monty so to me it will always be a dog's name.

I agree with other posts, Isaac is a lovely name! What about Rupert? Posh but not ridiculously so and the nickname Roo is very cute!

largepinotplease · 13/03/2017 21:02

That face Grin I agree he looks like an Elliot. If that's definitely a no no I have a Maxwell (Max) which I think is a "strong" name!

NoCapes · 13/03/2017 20:59

Your DH sounds like he is being very fucking difficult
Montgomery is out OP's DH, stop poo pooing all the other names and bloody pick one!

What a ridiculously gorgeous baby by the way Flowers congrats OP

Piggeligg · 13/03/2017 20:57

Wow he is the cutest baby in the world!
(And I had 4 of my own!)
Sorry not very helpful. I would register the birth and wait a bit longer to choose a name if I were you or one of you is likely to feel unhappy with the name.

MinisWin · 13/03/2017 20:56

Or, inspired by another PP, Gregory? Similar sound to Montgomery so DH might go for it?

MinisWin · 13/03/2017 20:53

Please don't inflict Montgomery on your GORGEOUS baby boy. Oh wow! He is just fab.

I like PP's suggestion of Rafferty/Raff actually, it really suits him. But he DOES also suit Elliott, and Hugo! you have much better taste

BarInSpace · 13/03/2017 20:51

Luke

MeerkatOnMyWall · 13/03/2017 20:49

Oh what a sweetie!

Any of the E names I think would suit him: Edmund, Elliot or Evan.

Sorry but all I can think of with Montgomery is Montgomery Burns from the Simpsons (might be helpful to plant that notion in his head if you really want him to switch off from Monty)

BarInSpace · 13/03/2017 20:49

Edmund is really nice and not OTT posh.

Charlie?

GoodDayToYou · 13/03/2017 20:44

Wasn't Edmund on Blackadder?

GoodDayToYou · 13/03/2017 20:43

Oo, he's gorgeous!
What about Archie?
Or Alfie?

TheWeeBabySeamus1 · 13/03/2017 20:38

He's gorgeous, what a lovely smile 🤗

I like Elliot (and think it suits him), really don't like Montgomery. I think Laurence, which has already been suggested, is lovely.

MissJSays · 13/03/2017 20:35

Gosh he's a beauty! What about Albie? I heard it the other day and thought it was cute.

I think he suits Evan and Elliot.

thebakerwithboobs · 13/03/2017 20:34

Ps watch your surname with Isaac. I once taught an Isaac Hunt.

Lambbone · 13/03/2017 20:34

Edmund! He has to be Edmund.

DreadlocksMadeMeHappy · 13/03/2017 20:33

I knew an Edmund nn Ned... I think it's a great name!

Benedict is also one to throw into this mix!

thebakerwithboobs · 13/03/2017 20:33

Sebastian is everyone's favourite posh name, no?! I love it.

Hugh? Felix? Lawrence? Gabriel? Theo? Toby? I love Toby (but I have one...), Alexander-loads of nn potential there (Xander, Alex etc.)

He is bloody gorgeous. My womb just skipped a beat!
