Elegant girls name with a short nickname?

I hope this is ok to ask here. This is for a novel I'm writing. I'm looking for a name for my character.

She is a lesbian who is artistic and quite punky. She comes from an upper middle class white background (goes to boarding school) and will have been given an elegant girly name, possibly something from a literary or artistic influence. But it needs to have a short, possibly unisex nickname that she will use with her friends. Born in about 2002 and is British.

Any suggestions?

Allegra is a bit of a class connected stereotype, though, but if that's what you're after it works well enough. Personally I'd go for something more neutral like Elizabeth or Catherine already mentioned.

Shania - popular due to shania Twain (not sure about nickname - Shan?)

Sorry but I am properly guffawing at the idea of an upper middle class public school girl being called Shania and Shan for short.

I was going to say Imogen or Clementine with Imo or Clem for short, but I think Jemima/Jem is a great suggestion.

I used to go to boarding school with a Harriet (Harri) and a Thomasin (Tom).

Laurie would work as a nickname for Florence.

Als is another possibility but again a bit hard to read. Ali is quite unisex.

I'd go for Al or Allie - I think Alle may not come off the page quite so clearly and both are true to the spelling of the name.
