Teddie or Mattie?

Theodora or Matilda? Definitely the NNs Teddie and Mattie until old enough to decide for herself.

Our 3rd choice was Winter (Winnie) but she isn't going to be born in Winter.

I really like Matilda nn tilly or mattie. Ds1's name is Edward nn Teddy so I can't see a girl with that name although obviously I like it!

Both full names are lovely , the nn you've chosen are not , so on that basis you should go for Winter . I will point out that Teddy / Teddie is very popular for small , black fluffy dogs in our part of the world (SE) . Thea and Dora are both very nice and Tilda /Tilly are better than Mattie .

I have a Theodora, we call her Thea 90% of the time, but a couple of her tiny friends call her Dora, which I actually really like. I am ambivalent about Teddy, but I'm sure at some point she'll go through a phase of it at school or something.

We have the same taste! If I ever have a daughter I am going to call her Theodora Winter! Matilda would also be the name of her sister if I had another girl! I like Matilda Olive. So my vote is Theodora, but they are both beautiful names.

Theodora is a lovely underused name. I personally prefer Matilda though, I think it sounds sweet but also strong.

Matilda / Mattie.

Hate the Mathilda spelling.

Theodora is fine, but I know two and both get Theo for short. If I had a Theodora, I'd want the nickname Dora, but that doesn't seem to be the assumed shortening. I have a strong dislike for "Teddie".

Dislike the nicknames enough to vote Winter overall even though it's my least favourite of the three full names.

But to address the issue, I slightly prefer Theodora. But Mathilda is great too. Not as keen on Matilda.

Mathilda is the standard Germanic spelling! Look up the origin of the name.

Mathilda isn't a "creative spelling"! That would be something like mateeldah Grin Mathilda is another way of spelling the name.

Anyway, winter is a horrible name (for a horrible season, haha! Wink)

I like Teddie/Theodora. There was a teddy on greys anatomy and I think it's a great nick name for a girl!

I much prefer Tilda to Mattie as a nn for Matilda so no to Matilda if Mattie is the only option.

Teddy (rather than Teddie) is an ok nn for Theodora.

Theodora is more interesting, there are lots of Matildas around.

Theodora and Mathilda are beautiful names, it would be a shame to shorten to Mattie or Teddie.

Love both full names, less keen on the nicknames but whatever floats your boat.

I'd go with Theodora personally, it's a bit more distinctive and there are lots of other nickname options if she feels like a change later. Winter is v cool too but feels like a totally different style to me. That said, I don't think she needs to be born in Winter for it to be usable.

I dislike both nn but like both Mathilda and Theodora. Also like Winter but it's quite a different feel to the others and not sure I'd use it if not a Winter baby.
