Child changing their name...

My DD wants to change her name for various reasons and I completely understand why and am allowing her to do so.

The question is how do you go about picking a new name?

She can't decide on one she likes, so we are all a bit stuck! Is a nickname sort of name better and easier to catch on? Sorry this seems like a bit of a pointless question ://

m not sure that's it's a good idea to allow a child to change theirr name. What if next year she decides she doesn't like the new name and wants to change again. I didn't like my name as a child and probably would have changed it if it was an option. But it wasn't and I'm glad now.

I think names like Binky could come from anything

I know a Beatrix who is Birdie but it could work for Elizabeth.

I think long names like Elizabeth, Gabriella lend themselves best to nicknames

My friend at school was Suzanne and hated it we all knew her as Anna or Zena only when we were being cool hth

Would there be any names that could start off as nicknames eg Dilly or Binky?

I mentioned Summer to her, she likes it but is worried it sounds too "made up" if you know what I mean?

Here's another idea, what about thinking of the people she admires? Could be someone she knows personally, like a teacher, family friend etc or someone well known or from history.

Her name does have a Z in it, so any suggestions of names / nicknames with a Z in may be great ! SmileSmileSmileSmile

Hmmm, can't think of many music names (Melody?) but nature names...

How about going through the office of national statistics list for last year with her and go from there, there's literally all the names on it and you can see how popular they are.
