When you hear the name Max...

Would you assume it's short for Maxwell or Maximilian?

DH and I both love 'Max' but agree it needs to be a bit longer on the birth certificate - but we can't decide whether it should be Maxwell or Maximilian and I'm curious to hear the MN consensus...

The only one I know is maximus. But I would assume just max if that is what child was introduced as

I'd assume just Max. I think Max is a name in its own right as well as an abbreviation.
