Sister for Clarissa. Please rate them :)

DD1 is Clarissa "scandi flower" virtue name"

So, like Clarissa Akleja Temperance (for example!).

If DC 2 is a girl... I really like these:

Gemma (my favourite name tbh. It's Italian, which is great and means there will not be pronunciation issues...)
Natalia (after my favourite cousin. One of my favourite cousins. But he will be the godparent)
Antonia
Carlotta (can we have a Clarissa and a Carlotta?)

The middle names will probably Erika and an other virtue name.
Or Mirabelle Ingrid :) Maybe. Or Olympia? OR Dorothea, my mother's favourite name. We're still working on that tbh.

Don't be put off Gemma! It sounds as though you really love it. It was very popular in the 80s but so what. I know a 6 year old Gemma and it doesn't seem weird, it's just her name, if that makes sense.

Odette was actually on my list.

Odette, Ottilie and Arielle all were. But then I thought they were so... "whimsy/princessy" compared to Clarissa?

Henrietta is too much like Heinrich (elderly family member. A grouchy old man, tbh).

Madeleine is a name I somehow associate with tragedy... (actually, I know why I do)

India. I know, it's a name in the UK. There's this horrible woman that has a child called India, I think? But to me personally it's a country. A bit like calling a child America. It may end in an "a" and sound like a name. but still...

My name is Gemma and i love it. I've only ever had compliments on it. I really don't understand how people prefer names like Dorothea over Gemma! Dorothea is pretty hideous in my opinion! Sorry!

Also i know several little Gemmas so I think it's gaining in popularity again.

It also has lots of great nicknames!

I know. That's probably one of the reasons I actually regret living in the UK. (not that I dislike living in London. Just.. I really like that name!!)

navy I don't like Jemima. It's the wrong kind of fussy imo. And has some bad associations, tbh...

loopy I kind of feared that might be the case. I mean, both start with a C, both contain an L, to As...

Maybe Charlottta.... But I think that's a slightly unfortunate mix between Carlotta and Charlotte, tbh.

You don't think it sounds like Carlot? (mentioned on mumsnet when I was on this board for DC1)...

And isn't it too cutesy/twee considering we already have a Clarissa?

When DH and I were talking about trying again I was like... "GEMMA"!

(probably a bit weird)

Elisabetta is so pretty. But the meaning is so.... stern. And I know a horrible Elsbeth. Sorry.

I grew up speaking... a version of German. if that helps with the pronunciation imagination.
I mean, French and German are both widely spoken. And Italian is an official language as well (and some speak Rumantsch. But eh...).

But my parent's first languages are Swedish and Italian. So, if it's a Swedish name for example my accent isn't probably super "Swiss"?
It's sad Gemma is "old" in the UK.

I'm surprised so many like Natalia. :) Awesome :)
My mother said it sounds like a Russian Gymnast.

No, I actually grew up in Switzerland :)

But my mother is from Italy and my father is Swedish (and some stuff. But Swedish is his first language).

So, I think up to now everyone of the first name choices has been mentioned positively at least once. Huh.

Presumably your home country is either Italy or somewhere in Scandinavia? I think Gemma is nice and underused.
