Anyone know any Patricks and if so does their name get shortened? I love it but hate Pat and Rick and not keen on Paddy (not Irish in the slightest, assume Paddy would perceived to be Irish?)
Having written all that, guess Patrick would be a daft option Hmm

My Patrick is known by everyone as Patch or Patchy. I'm guessing I know babyunicorn. Smile

He's only little yet though, so it may evolve as he gets older. My eldest son's name was 'changed ' by his pals at school, which is fine as long as he likes it.

The Patrick I know is about 40 and is just Patrick. I don't know if he used a cute version when he was a kid, but I can't see him putting up with it now.

I know Patrick who is Patrick and Patrick who is Paddy but not Irish. They are teenagers.
I love Tricky, never heard of that.

I have a Patrick. He is usually Patrick- but sometimes Pat or Rick or Trick. He was Patch as a baby but very firmly put a stop to that as soon as he was old enough! He is Padraig or Little Pat (despite being over 6ft!) to older Irish family.

He is never Paddy. He is named after his granddad who hated Paddy because he had suffered a lot of anti Irish prejudice when he came to England in the 50s.

We are a family with lots of Irish blood, although we live in the South of England, the children and I speak posh and dp Yourshire. Nobody has ever questioned why ds is Patrick. Go for it. Lovely name!

I know several Patricks who are just Patrick. Nobody shortens their name. One who is Irish gets called paddy but that is how he introduces himself. People will mostly call someone how they wish to be addressed ime

Yes, usually Paddy, but I love it.
Don't like Pat, or Rick.
