I'm not listing names that I don't like, as it always eventually causes trouble and hurts someone's feelings.

So I'm going mention perfectly nice, classic-ish, popular names, that I've actually mostly had positive experiences of, and I don't even actively dislike but make some deeply buried hackle inside me quiver slightly.

The male names that really make my toes curl are not currently in vogue like Keith and Kevin and female names ones like Brenda, Glenda etc!

I'll probably cause some offence here.. but I hate flower names, Poppy, Daisy etc... And why does everyone put Rose as a middle or hyphenated name?! It's bugs me.

Anything hypenated.

Anything with a "unique" spelling.

Anything hipstery like Storm, Rainbow, Leaf.

Meredith
Miriam
Ruth

They're all so middle aged to me.

My name is on here but not ds or dd. Yet. Lots of names I can't stand but one that gets on my wick is Janie. I don't know if it's a nickname but that's even worse. It's so insipid. Jane is fine but Janie, yuck. I like girls names to be strong. Actually Jeanie is probably worse.

Ha I like quite a few of these. Funny i would have said I don't like surnames but I do like Blake - for some reason (ahem gorgeous Blake in home and away) I don't see it as a surname

It's a very run of the mill, old-fashioned Spanish name. Seeing that there hundreds of millions of Spanish speakers in the world, you cannot rule out a Spanish connection.

I guess it's easier to think "oh dear! A car name - how chavvy" and feel so so superior Hmm

juju me too on the synaesthesia. Chose my dd's name as much for colour co-ordination and 'texture' as anything else.

I really hate three very popular names, more because of the affected tone of voice they tend to be said in, than the actual names themselves.

I also think a lot of people give their girls names that are little girly and pet-like, but to me sound a bit like a simpleton on an adult woman.

So yeah, not actually saying any of these names as they are all in the top 20 or so.

I know a little Canadian boy called Jaxon, a name I really disliked but on him it's perfect.
