Personally I don't see this thread being any worse than someone saying, 'opinions on the name Rosamund' and then commenting 'It makes my toes curl'
Which is what happens on the baby name forum, a lot.

Morning I apologised to those that I had offended. Because for that I am sorry. I am not then going to back down and admit I'm an awful person to certain posters who think they are way better than us who have an opinion on a name.

Actually, I know an 85 year old female Merlyn...it's quite an old name. Welsh, I think.

Another disliker of the hyphenated Mae/Mai/May. Nevaeh, Jayden, flower names for girls except for Violet, Frankie, Alfie, odd spellings of names. That said my own can be spelt with one of two letters at the start, mine being the less usual way even though it's phonetically correct.

OnHold not actually true though is it. Not everyone on here is saying 'naughty' names as sly Mumsnetters like to put it. Some are purely putting across their dislike for a name. Precious Hmm

One of my DDs names has been mentioned a few times, surprised my sons hasn't.

I really dislike the names Ruth, Harley and Gracie (But think Grace is lovely).

I didn't say 'please list names associated with the lower class so we can all laugh' I said names that make your toes curl.
I think you need get off your high horse. It's not an attack.
I like names, always have done and I'm interested.

If you mean me itsmine you are right I shouldn't have clicked. I'm usually thick skinned when it comes to my kids names, they are always on these kind of threads but have had a reminiscing kind of day and feeling a bit emotional.

Ava/Eva/Isabelle. Pretty but I know about 600. And why not Isobel which is (imo) the proper spelling. And shortened nicknames (Alfie, Archie etc) are fine but it should be the proper name on the birth certificate! If you don't want Archibald on the birth certificate you shouldn't be allowed Archie.

There's a massive difference between people saying "(name) is not to my taste" and "(name) sounds like the noise you make when being sick" or it's chavvy or its horrible or it reminds me of (something really nasty).

And yes lots of threads canvass opinions but they don't invite people to comment negatively on things that are not only really personal but also pretty permanent, such as the name you've already given your DC.
