nicknames Teddy/Ed, Charlie, Freddie or Archie

Middle name Francis

Please can you rank them. We are struggling so much with a boys name Confused

Edward is lovely. Charles also.
I like Fred / Freddie but I would Frederick because if people see the name Alfred they'll automatically assume he's an Alfie (and I think there are quite enough little Alfies).
Archibald is awful. I also dislike Archer... I am just sick to death of Archie (like Alfie). Archer better than Archibald if you must.

I'm not keen on any but really dislike Archibald (the bald bit), Archie (too cutesy) or Alfie (too cutesy).

I actually know a Charles Francis. Lovely name.

I love Edward too. Edward Charles Francis could work.

Not keen on other 2 names.

I'd be surprised to meet a Fred or Freddie and find his full name was actually Alfred. I'd expect him to be a Frederick. I suspect your Freddie would often find himself added to lists as Frederick rather than Alfred, which could be irritating.

Archie used to be fairly common in Scotland when I was growing up. It's been amusing to hear these old man names coming back into fashion recently. I can't say I take to the names Archibald or Alfred, though.

Love Edward and Charles as full names but also like nicknames linked to both.

Alfred makes me think of the butler in batman for some reason. There are lots of little Alfies and Freddies in our area (2 Alfies and 3 Freddies just in my son's preschool class - but also one Charlie and one Ted too!)

Don't like Archibald or Archer at all I'm afraid. Don't mind Archie as a nickname. Don't know any in real life, but it makes me think of the character in Eastenders a few years ago.

Archer is fab. As most pp's have said it's also preferable to Archibald. I'm really not keen on Alfie, Archie, Charlie... yawn. Love Edward nn Ned!

Not to me - I'm firmly in the Midlands & it would be more "Arr-choy" here. Archer would be "Arr-cha".

I like Edward or Charles. I think it's important to think about the possible nicknames to see if you actively don't like them. However he might end up with a completely different shortened form.

Pick Francis it's lonely and he can be frank or frankie or fran - nice boys names that arnt over used.

I do like Archie as a nn, but agree with other ops that Archer is preferable to Archibald as full name.

I like all of the full names, especially Alfred and Archer (as suggested above). Of the nicknames I like Teddy/Ed the most. Not as keen on Freddy, Alfie or Charlie, they're still nice names just slightly more over-used.

None are to my taste, apologies, but I really dislike Archibald - I don't like the bald bit - and, male people dread baldness, so I would guess that's likely to strike a really bad and sour note in the mind of a son too.

I like Edward. I like Ed, Eddie or Teddy as a nn.

There are so many little Charlies, Archies, and Alfies running about I wouldn't chose any of those 3 options.
