Expecting dc4.

If it's a boy, it will be a Thomas possibly nn Tom.

How are people's views on Lisa? Is it too 80s? I have always love the name as I think it's simple, unpretentious and feminine suiting a girl and a grown woman.

I don't like it. I thought it was outdated when I went to school with one in the 2000s. She was boring too.

I think it does sound quite dated, but that shouldn't necessarily put you off. It has a similar sound to a lot of current names - Ella, Elsa, Lila etc.

I agree that it's not one you think about much, but it's actually a really nice name! I'd find it refreshing to meet a little Lisa.

I also like Elise, Lise and Liesel.

You could also consider calling her something like Annalise that then shortens to Lisa. Although tbh I prefer Lisa on its own!

Its one of those names that has been put out of mind as too boring but the more you think about it, it's a very pretty and spunky name. I like it! I hope you go for it!

I can just imagine a toddler running around called Lisa. I really think when it becomes the name of a child rather than an abstract name it becomes more appealing.

Yes. The Lisa I currently know is a colleague in our US office - chinese but chose this as her anglophone name.

And Lisa Simpson is the best character in The Simpsons by a mile.

It is a Sharon and Tracy type name although vastly better than those two. Totally of that era unfortunately. Love Lisa Simpson though!

It's a nice name but I think in my generation (born late 70s) it was just sooo common so now I associate it with a ton of girls I went to school with and are now in their mid to late 30s!!

How about Elise or Elouisa?

It may not be popular with current generation, but given it's been top 100 for 30+ years (and top 10 some of that time), it's still very common name amongst the 30-50+ year olds. Hence lots of 'bland' type comments. Too close for comfort still I think. It will appeal to future generations to be sure.

I really love it, it's phonetically pleasing, looks nice written down, is feminine and simple.

It's a pretty name and has dated much better than many of the era it was popular.

It's a nice name, I think. Although you will get people who can't think outside the box saying it's too 70s and 80s. It was popular then, but so what? It's similar but actually slightly nicer than Liza or Eliza, which are currently popular (at least Eliza is), so why not?

Thanks, lots of positive views and of course some neutral or negative. I'm very happy with that I had sort of wondered if everyone would say now way, too 70/80s common, boring bland. I know it can be seen as those but think that Lisa is simple and cool.
