Opinions on our girls names please!

Hello, would love some opinions on our girls names, or suggestions of anything else you think we might like.

Shortlist is -

Isobel (dh choice, I like it but aware it's pretty popular)
Imogen
Matilda

Imogen is awful sorry, wannabe prim/proper, pretentious while lacking class or style. Imy the most sickly sweet nn too, bleurgh. I like Isobel by far the most- very pretty while classic, Matilda is far too "trendy".

Totally biased but I love Matilda, and tend to shorten in to Tilda. I don't know any other Matilda's either.

I'm not keen on Imogen at all. I know it's now established as a name but I can't get over the fact that it's down to a spelling mistake/printer's error and is meant to be Innogen or its Celtic variants, such as Inghean/Ingen.

Love Imogen and Matilda, Imogen is my favourite of the two.

Imogen is nice. Don't like Isobel (especially Izzy!) Matilda is fine but very popular.

Matilda is more popular than Imogen and on an upward trend!

Mind you, they are both in the "1 in 250-300" bracket. So one per primary schoolish.

I like them all. Imogen is becoming pretty popular and I think will date more than the others. Isobel is less popular than Isabelle/Isabella and a very pretty spelling. Matilda is my favourite of the three - pretty but strong, very international, has a fab meaning, lots of potential shortenings (Tilda being my favourite).

Isobel is far too popular, Matilda and Imogen are lovely but Imogen is my favourite by a long way.

I love Matilda. With the nickname Mattie.

Imogen is nice. I like Immy more than I like Imogen though. Blush

I don't like Isobel.

All nice names.
Isobel and variants are very popular and have been for a while. Isault? Mirabel?
Matilda Lovely, similar are maybe Jemima or Tabitha
Imogen I know 5 Imogen's stangly so must be popular at the moment. Megan always seems similar.

Didn't realise Matilda had been so popular recently, I only know of one, but perhaps I don't know the right age group of children to have noticed it.

Love Martha and Tabitha but dh isn't keen.

I agree about Isobel, lovely name and in its self isn't too popular, but once you add up all the variants I think there will be lots of little 'izzies' about. I don't mind a reasonably popular name, but think this one might be a little too popular for me.

Imogen, I love, but not so keen on the shortenings.

Matilda also love, but not keen on Tilly - think I'd use Mattie as a shortening.

I love Imogen. Ds has a friend who shortens it to Imo, which I also like.

They're all lovely names. I know a few Imogens and Matildas, but seem to meet hundreds of little Isobel / Isabelle / Isabellas where I live. It depends how much that bothers you and also how popular the name is where you live.

The spelling of Isobel isn't actually that common. Isabelle/Isabel are more popular.

Imogen and Matilda are also pretty popular.

I love Imogen and wanted it but DH really not keen. Isobel done to death I think as was Matilda a few years ago although it is a pretty name.

I like Isobel. I don't like Imogen, it just doesn't sound pretty to me. I know loads of Matilda's and they are all called Tilly, which I hate.

I know of more under 6's called Matilda ATM. It's not a name I care for.

Isobel or Imogen are much nicer.
