I've just found a note of possible names on my phone and I found it really interesting the variety of names we considered. We've had two girls so never got to choose a boys names, my absolute favourite boys name is Sebastian and I really would have pushed for that.

What are your unused names? Here are mine:

Boy

  • Ethan
  • Sebastian
  • Alaric
  • Tierney
  • Mylo
  • Remy
  • Elijah

Girl

  • Willow
  • Madison
  • MacKenzie
  • Ellen
  • Caitlin
  • Isabelle
  • Ella
  • Amelie
  • Ava
  • Georgia
  • Zara
  • Savannah

Flynn and Willow in my last pregnancy. Neither of those were considered this time round (33 weeks at the mo)

Got 2DS's but for girls the list was:

Kiana (only so her NN could be Kiki)
Raya
Iris
Nahla
Saffron
Safia

DS2 was very nearly Angelo but I flaked out and think it's too out there, love his name but do have a little niggle that should have gone for Angelo as he's so angelic!

DD would have been Caspar if a boy. I'm having a DS this time and still love it but have chosen something else for this baby.

It's funny how different babies seem to suit different names even before they're born. I still think DD would have made a marvellous Caspar!

swimmerforlife · 11/02/2017 10:35

The only other name we considered for both DS1 and DS2 was Angus...

Girls names:
Sian
Megan
Sadie
Harriet
Paige

If we had a daughter, she would most likely have been called Harriet.

whifflesqueak · 11/02/2017 09:48

Philip (nn Pip). had a lovely little girl.

Lots of my list was veoted too, because dh has no taste in names! I really wanted (and these are a mix of what I can remember from both dc, we have a boy and a girl so a couple were real contenders each time if we'd had the opposite) :

Cecilia
Margot
Lucille
Octavia
Violet
Lydia

Victor
Vincent
Theodore
Tobias
Hector
Dexter

I do like the names we gave our dc, but they were both compromises!

DanGleballs · 11/02/2017 04:28

Emmet is a insulting cornish word for tourists or non-cornish folk. It means ants as tourists swarm like ants. Not a name I would choose.

ABCFamily · 11/02/2017 04:13

Laniakea, you obviously have excellent taste Wink

Buntysoven · 11/02/2017 00:27

DH wanted Morven which I vetoed and he vetoed Lois and the name we eventually called her! I went through phases of Demelza Zinnia Susannah. I only like Susannah out of those now! DS was and will be (if I ever have a son) named after my father with the Welsh spelling granny wanted and didn't get.

gunting · 11/02/2017 00:26

Chester and Tallulahbelle

In my defense I was absolutely bonkers emotional when pg and even dh knew to be cautious around me Grin

Apologoe sto anyone if your dc have these names, I'm sur etrhtey are lovely and wear their names well, but I look backand have noidea what I was thinking

Laniakea · 10/02/2017 23:12

It's still pretty much my favourite name ever - I justify it by reminding everyone I am from the West Country & knew a few in my childhood. MIL's face when we told her the name though Shock Grin I told her she was lucky it wasn't dd's first name!

DD1 prefers Cressida to the name she ended up with - but I still think it is a bit OTT (the name she actually has is pretentious enough). I'd've love to have used Idris, but dh got to pick the names of the younger two (from the choice of two each) while I picked the older two

KnottedAnchorChief · 10/02/2017 23:08

Girl Florence
Boy Valentine

Both got eye rolls from family but still love those names!
