For a child not born in April?

It's a lovely name.

xapril87x · 21/02/2017 14:05

April is a nice name, but I hated it when I was younger. I was also not born in April, and the amount of teasing I endured when I was younger was a lot. TBF it didn't help that the Teenage Mutant Turtles was around at the same time. Even now, I constantly get asked if I was born in April. I like my name now, and I like the fact that I know no-one else who has it. If you like it, then why not but your child will endure some teasing throughout school etc.

ElvenMoonwings · 19/02/2017 22:29

No, because April is a beautiful month and it has a nice meaning.

thebakerwithboobs · 19/02/2017 10:03

What did you decide on OP?

toffeeboffin · 06/02/2017 20:12

I'd say so.

You'd just assume the kid was born in April.

GreatScot8 · 06/02/2017 20:11

The April I know was born in December, and the May I know was born in July...

I don't think it matters at all, and honestly, I think it smacks of unoriginality to name your child after the month/season in which they were born (April born in April, Summer born in summer etc).

Allthebestnamesareused · 06/02/2017 19:46

April is lovely but don't call subsequent siblings May and June 😜

thebakerwithboobs · 06/02/2017 19:43

Nobody has ever called me Ape OP so perhaps you need a switch to January?? You're welcome GrinWink

JammyGeorge · 06/02/2017 19:40

I also know an April that gets ape as a nickname

RedSauce · 06/02/2017 19:33

And re: thebakerwithboobs, if anything I would think that a name like January would be even MORE likely to face the question, simply because it's a less common name. So if she's never heard it, then I'm guessing an April is highly unlikely to!

ShoutOutToMyEx · 06/02/2017 19:21

It's DP's new favourite name for a girl. I think he must have met an April he's become taken with!

thebakerwithboobs · 06/02/2017 19:18

reuset why thank you (although I can take no credit for naming myself...)

buttercup they really won't! I have made it through numerous decades and cannot remember ever being asked if I was born in January. If it ever did happen, a simple 'no, June, and I like wine if you're thinking of gifts' will do!

buttercup54321 · 06/02/2017 18:13

April is pretty, but people will ask about the month she was born in.

leccybill · 06/02/2017 17:53

Yeah my niece gets called Apes by everyone.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 06/02/2017 17:49

Have worked with 2 Aprils both of whom had to put up with being called Ape.

reuset · 06/02/2017 17:48

Great name is January, Baker!

thebakerwithboobs · 06/02/2017 17:46

I'm called January and I was born in June. Genuinely, I can't remember a single person ever asking if I was born in January when hearing my name. April is lovely-conicidentally my mothr in law's name!

RedSauce · 06/02/2017 15:47

I know a couple of Aprils and have no idea when they were born; it's never occurred to me to ask!

This. I know a May too and have no idea when her birthday is. It's just a name. Lots of names come from other words but have no relation to the meaning of the word itself.

Just like I know a Willow and don't ask "were you born under a willow tree?" and I know a Violet and don't ask "were you born violet?"

reuset · 06/02/2017 15:37

No, of course not.

greeeen · 06/02/2017 12:06

Pretty name, it wouldn't occur to me to ask about when she was born.

GinIsIn · 06/02/2017 11:27

My great aunt was called May. She was born in November. If you like it, go for it!

MrsBungle · 06/02/2017 11:27

April is a lovely name.

KoalaDownUnder · 06/02/2017 11:25

I like it a lot.

I know a couple of Aprils and have no idea when they were born; it's never occurred to me to ask! Obviously I know it comes from the month, but I just think of it as a name.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 06/02/2017 10:44

Very pretty name.

Purplebluebird · 06/02/2017 10:22

I love it! Regardless when child is born :)
