Olivia or Ivy? (DD3)

Sister to Autumn and Violet. What goes better? Olivia or Ivy? I think Olivia, but that's because they'll all be 6 letters/go up in syllables (2, 3 and 4!) Grin

Ivy is lovely

daisydaisychain · 28/01/2017 14:51

I like ivy best, it has a nice sound. They are both nice names though. I think you have to consider whether you want a nature theme or not because Olivia is less obviously "nature-y". I don't think them all having nature names is a problem but people might comment I suppose - I don't know if that would bother you?

DramaAlpaca · 27/01/2017 23:41

With your other names, Ivy.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 27/01/2017 09:15

I love Ivy & have never met a child called Ivy in my life.

Olivia however is everywhere. In DD's class alone there are 3.

OliviaStabler · 27/01/2017 09:13

Olivia but I am biased Smile

EweAreHere · 27/01/2017 09:11

Ivy.

If you're looking for six letters, have you considered Willow? Pretty, and still fits with your nature theme.

Velvian · 27/01/2017 09:09

Ivy; love it I was set to give it to DD, but my mum had such a violent reaction to it, it put me off. Still love it though.

ASDismynormality · 27/01/2017 09:07

Ivy is quite trendy at the moment so I bet that it will be more likely that there is another Ivy in your child's class than Olivia. I do think Ivy goes really well with your other names.

HeadlessGummyBears · 27/01/2017 09:05

Ivy Smile

MistressMolecules · 26/01/2017 01:15

I like Olivia, I know of none (my children range from 14 - 2) Ivy is very popular where I am in the younger age bracket.

Joeybee · 26/01/2017 01:03

I think both names are really good.
What puts me off Olivia is its popularity at the moment. For that reason I'd pick Ivy...plus Ivy is one of my fave names. Plus 'Vee' is a cute nn. Also Ivy goes well with your other daughters names. Violet also would work really well.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 25/01/2017 20:14

Olivia is prettier, but for reasons that Raines pointed out. I'd say Ivy

Lugeeta · 25/01/2017 17:55

I love Ivy. Olivia is a bit boring now, there are so many of them- Ivy goes better with your other dd's names too!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 25/01/2017 17:51

Ivy does go better, but I love Olivia too.

n0ne · 25/01/2017 17:47

Love Ivy. Bored of Olivia

mum2bejen · 25/01/2017 17:41

I think both names are lovely! Personally I prefer the name Olivia, but I think Ivy goes better with Autumn and Violet.

indigo13 · 25/01/2017 17:27

Also Violet and Ivy have the 'eye' sound as well as V. There's something similar about them compared to Autumn! but it depends how fussy you are

indigo13 · 25/01/2017 17:24

Agree Olivia is very dull. I really like Autumn, Violet and Ivy but I would be put off by two out of three having a V sound if it was me

Cakingbad · 25/01/2017 17:14

Summer or Rose.

Cakingbad · 25/01/2017 17:13

If you choose Ivy, you realise you will have to have a fourth girl to complete your beautiful four seasons set.

SittingDrinkingTea · 25/01/2017 17:11

When I saw the title of this thread I thought it was about the My Sister the Vampire books. The central characters are twins called Olivia and Ivy, Olivia is human while Ivy is a vampire.

That aside they're both nice names but Olivia has been very popular for several years so my pick would be Ivy.

FaithAgain · 25/01/2017 17:07

..opt for the less popular name.

FaithAgain · 25/01/2017 17:07

I think Ivy works better. Also Olivia has been a top 5 name for several years whereas Ivy was about 40. As someone who grew up with the same name as a lot of my peers (6 in my year at senior school!) I'd

CouldHaveNotCouldOf · 25/01/2017 17:06

Ivy definitely.
Olivia is so overdone at the minute. Ivy sounds nicer with your other childrens names too.

JournosAreLazy · 25/01/2017 17:02

Another vote for Ivy! Lovely name and fits on well with the others.

Olivia is very bland imo
