I know what you mean, even though I disagree and really like it, but this Tia certainly proves otherwise! I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it's her full name, not a NN.

As a medical type I can't not see it as T.I.A (transient ischaemic attack). Same as MIA is a common abbreviation for missing in action. Sorry.

Also, if you say it in anger I think sounds like a sneeze.

I like Rhea. Heard this recently and liked it.

Tia is the 00s version of the 80s Tina.
I also know a staff bull terrier called Tia.

I really like the name Tia but it always makes me think of Thanks In Advance when I see the name. I also think Missing In Action when I see the name Mia.

I know a wonderful Tia, not chavvy whatsoever. She has also lived in Spain and no problems with the name there. x

I live in Spain with a Spanish DH and I don't think it is weird. It wouldn't work here, that's not to say it wouldn't work in the UK. DS has a Tia Maria and she loves her moniker!

It isn't like Tia = Spanish for bumhole, or something.
