YES to Bruce. It's a brilliant name! Easy to spell, not too common, has a good, strong sound. I'm a fan.

I have a Bruce and he doesn't get any one teasing him with his name. He loves his name as do we as it is a very individual name and there is no one else he knows in school with it, no one has trouble spelling it and every one remembers it.

For us it is an old family name, his great grandfather plus other relatives of that generation and further back.

I think it's cute. Original these days. It has a nice bounce to it. I knew a very good looking Bruce once. It's definitely a confident man's name. The Aussie thing about Sheila and Bruce is already a bit outdated and in 20 years I think your baby's peers won't even 'get' the joke if some ancient person made it!

I love it. It was on my names shortlist for my DS but my husband vetoed it (he quite rightly pointed out that our surname would mean DS would have to endure a lifetime of sprout jokes).

I'm in Scotland. I know lots of Bruces. No little ones though. Like Duncan, Innes etc, it's due a wee revival.

I like it. My immediate associations with it are Wayne/Banner so it's a superhero name to me

I dated a Bruce. I have to admit that his name made me cringe a bit.

I think it would have been ok if he was the really tall manly type and his name seemed a mismatch for his slight wussiness!

It will definitely come back in fashion at some stage as all names do, along with Roger and Clive etc. But I'm not a fan of the current trendy granddad names so I don't see myself falling for Bruce. Roger and Clive's charms at any point in the future!

I like it but i live in Scotland where it is a fairly common name. I have a lovely uncle and a cousin both called Bruce. I don’t associate it with Australia at all.

I do think what tronald says is v interesting though, about where the next wave of baby names will go (and I speak as an adopter of the popular granny chic)
