Hi,

I am due with a baby girl soon and husband and I are between 3 names: Vivian/Vivienne, Sylvie, or Juliet. We want something classic and not too common. Please let me know your thoughts on these names and which you like most! Thanks!

Another vote for Juliet

Izzyathome · 24/01/2017 17:58

Wow the love for Juliet is huge on here. It is a lovely name, but I much prefer Sylvie (with the e) and Vivienne! Love them both equally. They seem much fresher and more current than Juliet. Three great names though.

IHeartKingThistle · 23/01/2017 09:06

They sound the same to me!

I like Juliet and Sylvie.

Manumission · 23/01/2017 09:03

I don't like it pronounced Julie-Ette. Jooly-et or Jool-yet pronunciation is quite nice.

Say what now? Julie-Ette is the same as Jooly-et isn't it?

Joeybee · 23/01/2017 00:10

Juliet would be my favourite, but with the Juliette spelling. Sylvie is a nice name too.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 19/01/2017 21:51

Vivienne

BadToTheBone · 19/01/2017 21:40

Juliet - love it
Sylvie - very popular
Vivienne - just awful

MikeUniformMike · 19/01/2017 21:35

Sylvia is horrible. Silvia if you're Italian is OK. Sylvie is ok if you are French.
Vivian is a bloke. Vivien or Vivienne is ok.
Not keen on Juliet as I know many Julias and I don't like it pronounced Julie-Ette. Jooly-et or Jool-yet pronunciation is quite nice.

17caterpillars1mouse · 19/01/2017 21:31

Vivienne is lovely. I really love the nn Vivi
Juliet is pretty and Jules would be cute. I think I prefer the Juliette spelling though
Sylvie is nice but I struggle picturing it on a baby and small child

Raines100 · 19/01/2017 21:24

We have matching tastes, OP. I love them all.

Juliet is my favourite. I would have used it myself, but DH vetoed it.
Sylvie is beautiful.
Vivienne is lovely, but I can't say it without a French accent (which i actually prefer). Vivien is nice but probably my least favourite. I love Vivi, though. If we had another DD, she would be Genevieve nn Vivi.

phoeb3 · 19/01/2017 21:05

Juliet
Juliette
Julietta

rainbow99 · 19/01/2017 20:59

Juliet is lovely, Sylvie is cute, and I'm not a fan of Vivienne esp not Viv

Pluto30 · 19/01/2017 19:33

Juliet is easily the best of the three. Smile

Of Vivienne/Vivian, I prefer Vivienne. As others have said, Vivian is traditionally a masculine name. Vivien is nice too, as in Vivien Leigh.

I don't like Sylvie.

Jooni · 19/01/2017 18:14

All nice names, my personal favourite is Juliet.

Allalonenow · 19/01/2017 17:35

Juliet is my favourite.

Vivienne and Sylvie also very pretty.

Vivian more usually used for boys IIRC.

Sapphireshadow · 19/01/2017 17:29

I really like Sylvie.

EssentialHummus · 19/01/2017 15:29

Juliet, by miles.

MollyHuaCha · 19/01/2017 15:25

Juliet for me.

Sophronia · 19/01/2017 15:20

I like Vivien spelled this way. Sylvie is ok, but I'm not keen on Juliet.

harrypoooter · 19/01/2017 15:18

What about Renee?

Pikawhoo · 19/01/2017 15:14

Juliet is beautiful. I like Vivienne and Sylvie too, but Juliet seems like the most versatile.

indigo13 · 19/01/2017 15:11

Great choices! Juliet is my favourite but how would you pronounce it? I thought there was only one way until I read something else on here

LemonBreeland · 19/01/2017 15:08

None of them are my kind of names, but Juliet is the nicest by far.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 19/01/2017 15:07

Juliet.

mum2bejen · 19/01/2017 15:06

All pretty names, but my personal favourite from your list is Juliet, it sounds very elegant!

Vivienne makes me think of the film Pretty Woman and Silvie makes me think of Eastenders (sorry!)
