Matthew is a lovely name! It would be on my list if I didn't have a cousin with the name.

Yup. It's boring and is a 70s/80s child name. Matteo is lovely though.

Not at all boring, it's lovely. A strong, classic name that doesn't just make you think of one particular generation. So much better than 90% of the other suggestions on here IMO.

It's a classic name. Lovely. Not boring, not dull, never likely to date etc.

I love Matthew! Was on my shortlist for DS but dp's best friend is called Mat and DP didn't want all the jokes about Mat being the father!!

It's all subjective, OP. I quite like it but do think it's a bit boring - that's doesn't mean no-one should use it. Ironically, it'd be a boring world if we were all called Balonz and Scheherazade.

I do like Matteo and Matthias, particularly the latter.

Yes. It was v popular when I was at school (born late 80's) and they all a bit....dull. Sorry. Same goes for the name Jonathon. They are the name equivalent of beige for me.
