Hello Mumsnet!

Baby boy is 12 days old. We just can't decide. Some opinions would be very helpful.

The 8 names:

  • Aidan
  • Elliot
  • Finn
  • Hayden
  • Isaac
  • Noah
  • Oliver
  • Reuben

The one we like the least is Oliver - it has an obvious NN. We don't mind the name being shortened/given a NN, but I can't see him having 'Reubs' or 'Els', etc. written on his books at school, but Ollie may well be!

OP posts:

Isaac

SirChenjin · 14/01/2017 22:04

My favourites (fwiw) are Magnus, Benedict (nn Ben), Hamish and Josiah (nn Joe). DH vetoed them all Angry

spencerreidswife · 14/01/2017 22:03

I missed pic before!! He looks like a Noah. What a beautiful boy you have. So broody😬😬

littlemissM92 · 14/01/2017 22:01

Reuben ! What about Elijah ? Congrats x

goldielookingchain · 14/01/2017 21:59

Love Elliot

SirChenjin · 14/01/2017 21:55

He's gorgeous! Looks like a Noah or Oliver imo

Screamer1 · 14/01/2017 21:54

Elliott!

Jenda · 14/01/2017 21:54

Actually he could be an Elliott too! I don't think he's a Hayden or Aidan or Rueben though

Jenda · 14/01/2017 21:53

I think my ovaries just exploded. OP your little boy is absolutely completely perfectly beautiful!!

I feel like you love Oliver the best but you're put off because of the nn. Thing is, kids will make nicknames from anything, for instance I know a Richard who has only ever been called Woody by his friends! He will always be Oliver at home and maybe Ollie to friends if he lets them. For what it's worth he looks like a lovely wise peaceful Oliver to me! I think he could be a Noah or Issac too. Congratulations!

AtSea1979 · 14/01/2017 21:52

Isaac

spencerreidswife · 14/01/2017 21:51

Love Noah. I'd have loved that for DS but DH didn't like it. We had Finlay(Finn for short) as one of 2 names for DS but went with the other name. Our DD went into nursery after he was born & announced she had a new brother called Finlay -she loved Finlay the fire engine at the time😂😂

5BlueHydrangea · 14/01/2017 21:45

Gorgeous boy.
Elliott is my favourite. I think Aidan Elliot has a nice ring to it.
I know of quite a few Noah's and Isaac is becoming more popular too.
Benjamin?? Someone else said it above and I think it suits him.

lifeisazebracrossing · 14/01/2017 21:43

Isaac

BertrandRussell · 14/01/2017 21:41

He is definitely an Isaac.

And utterly, utterly gorgeous. I am sitting watching TV with my hulking 15 year old and wishing he was 12 days old and I could do it again.

finova · 14/01/2017 21:40

Congrats he's gorgeous.
My order is this: I love these 4.

  • Noah
  • Finn
  • Oliver
  • Reuben

Nice:
Isaac

Okay:
Elliot

Not keen:
Aidan

Dislike:
Hayden

notagiraffe · 14/01/2017 21:39

Just seen his pic. Oh, he's beautiful!!!!!!! Looks like a Noah to me. So cute he made my heart beat faster.

notagiraffe · 14/01/2017 21:38

Isaac
Noah
Rueben
Oliver
Elliott
Finn/Aidan
Hayden

in that order

marmitecrumpets · 14/01/2017 21:37

He's beautiful.
I think he's a Reuben. Or a Finn

MiniMaxi · 14/01/2017 21:36

Congratulations! Nice list Smile

My favourites are Aidan, Finn and Isaac

Nonameyet1 · 14/01/2017 21:36

Ahhhh, gorgeous. He looks like a Reuben to me.

snowone · 14/01/2017 21:35

Sorry OP Hayden.....not Haydan Confused

Fairybella · 14/01/2017 21:35

He is so beautiful 😍 looks likes an Oliver or Noah

snowone · 14/01/2017 21:34

Congratulations on the birth of your gorgeous son. Personally I'm not keen at all on Aidan or Haydan. I personally would go:

  1. Oliver
  2. Isaac
  3. Noah

Don't rule Oliver out, it's a lovely name and I'm sure if he doesn't want it shortened then he will say so. Good luck on making your decision Smile

Pluto30 · 14/01/2017 21:27

Reuben is my favourite.

Followed by (in order of preference):

  • Oliver
  • Elliot
  • Finn
  • Noah
  • Aidan
  • Isaac
  • Hayden

(I don't particularly like Noah down, though)

Stonewash · 14/01/2017 21:26

Aidan - really like, with this spelling
Elliot - too surnamey and a bit wet
Finn - not keen
Hayden - don't like, Aidan is much nicer
Isaac - good solid name
Noah - getting a bit overdone now
Oliver - very nice
Reuben - OK

Also Samuel, Benjamin, William, Saul, Julian, Nathaniel Smile
