Names you loved but weren't brave enough to use?

I've seen a lot of this, and I love unusual names so I'm wondering what names you would have loved to use but couldnt/wouldnt go for it as its too out there?

for me it'd have to be some of the lesser heard of mythological names Smile

Tabby Cat Grin. That's hilarious!

I have always loved the name Cedar for a girl, but would never be brave enough. I think it's a beautiful, strong name. We went with fairly standard names in the end.

Really wanted to call DD Tabitha with middle name Kitten so she'd be known as Tabby Cat. Wasn't allowed Sad

Araminta, Tilda, Thomasina, Esther, Esmeralda, Daisy, Oonagh, Azure, Plum, Pearl, Cosima, Jocasta, Jemima, Freya. Loads more.

Most of the boys' names that I liked were vetoed by the exh: Sam, Moishe, Asher, Dov, Josiah, Jonas, Noah, Seamus, Colm.

Whilst DH and I agreed on girls names, he hated all my choices for boys. They were

Edwin (most likely choice)
Jolyon
Bertrand (Bertie)
Fabian
Kai.

All chosen for special / personal meanings.

Thankfully we only had daughters, as we would have seriously fallen out if we'd have had a son!

Aurelia and Araminta. Got vetoed by DH. Both my girls have got very classic English names, I let DH name them as I was high as a kite from the morphine and Persephone Violet (DH Lawrence inspired) seemed a great idea at the time.

I wanted a Minty too, and it would have really suited her character. I am pleased with his choices though, they are solid, sensible names and as we have a very unusual surname they won't be forever spelling their whole names out on the phone.

Fleur for a girl and Fleance for a boy... I was 15 when I fell in love with these names and told my now exH that we would have twins and call them that!

I also wasn't brave enough for Ezekiel which I wish I had been as i love it. And teddy also. Though it was more that DH doesn't like Edward even though it's his middle name. Poor DS doesn't really suit his name I don't think and he really would have suited teddy.

I like the (unusual and classical) name we gave to DD, and she would probably have had that name anyway, but I would have had Jocasta on the shortlist were it not for all the 'Tarquin and Jocasta' comments.

DP did come home from the pub once when I was pregnant and crawled into bed saying 'let's call the baby Ozymandias', but I'm fairly sure he was joking.
