Mysterious/nature names for boys?

Ginger10 · 06/01/2017 20:09

I love nature/fairy names for girls - Autumn, Faye, Violet, Rowan, Robin, Ivy, etc.

For boys I like names that are similar and a bit mysterious. Don't like Rowan or Robin for a boy! Any ideas? We don't like the names to be unisex for a boy (hence Rowan, Robin, Wren, etc. are all out)

Thank you!

Hungry Horace was a comic book character.

Ragnar Sea Cucumber would be of a theme I think Grin

MitzyLeFrouf · 10/01/2017 00:29

'don't like Horace either. For some reason it makes me think of all obese cake-lover? not sure why.'

I'm sure there was a cartoon or book character called Hungry Horace.

MitzyLeFrouf · 10/01/2017 00:26

I know two young boys called Moss.

Any good OP?

reuset · 09/01/2017 17:39

Who's critiquing the name suggestions Angry

Did you mean Flux or Pox, Lireal? I can't think of any disease similar to Pollux.

You could argue that a disease is a nature name...I suppose. Thus fitting the OP's criteria. Grin

steggers123 · 09/01/2017 16:52

The Great Alphonso...absolutely love it!

1horatio · 09/01/2017 16:52

Parvo (with an r) is a puppy disease, I think.

Pollux is a star.:)

Lireal · 09/01/2017 16:49

I think Pavo and Pollux may also be diseases...

Aww, thanks :)
I really love the name Flora (but can't use it), so great user name!
DH's middle name is Horatio so, if DC2 is a boy that will actually very likely be his middle name. I don't like Horace either. For some reason it makes me think of all obese cake-lover? Confused not sure why.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 08/01/2017 12:51

I love Ulrik 😀

florascotianew · 08/01/2017 12:37

Horatio - Clarissa is a really lovely name Smile - and if truth were told I prefer names such as Horatio to names such Fox or Bear or River. (Though I rather draw the line at Horace.) But each to their own. As others have said, it would be very dull if we all liked the same.

1horatio · 08/01/2017 11:38

flora

That is true. I think I went a bit crazy Grin...
DD is actually Clarissa. Wink

florascotianew · 08/01/2017 11:35

I don't want to be crtitical of anybody, and your baby, your choice. But, re the long list above, you might like to bear in mind:

Frigg is a goddess; the wife of Thor.

Eridanus is a brand name of Greek foods often on sale in Lidl. Yes, it's a constellation, but even so...

Eri is a female name in some countries (eg Japan)

Heimdal (that spelling) is the modern business district of Trondheim, Norway; if you like names such as 'Chelsea' or 'Brooklyn', then that may not matter. Heimdallr was a Norse god, and appears in graphic modern form in Marvel comics.

Lupus is a disease.

Pictor (= latin for painter); is this a name? I know it's a constellation, but...

Phoenix is not an exclusively male name; from Shakespeare's time and earlier, poets have called the phoenix bird 'she'.
