What do you think of the name Galina? And do you prefer the spelling Galina or Galena?

DC is due is 5 days and we're still at a loss for a name. DH likes this one with the nickname Gigi.

What a pretty name! Prefer the Galina spelling. Don't know anything about the hen references! Gigi is gorgeous nn.

Eroica · 03/01/2017 21:18

The one I know is Galena (rhymes with Tina).

Neither of us have any connection with Spain or any knowledge of Spanish. We live in Australia, so I don't think the hen association would be a thing here. Smile

No I apologise hen is gallina with two lls.

fueledbybacon · 03/01/2017 21:18

Gallina is Italian for hen also. I can't get passed that.

We'd pronounce the ending like Tina orange, so thanks for that insight! Perhaps Galina makes more sense then.

We aren't Russian, but DH is Norwegian so we need a name that works there as well and I don't like a lot of Scandi names. Blush

I like Galina

orangepudding · 03/01/2017 21:15

Galina I would pronounce the ending like Tina , Galena like Lenny. Which way are you pronouncing the name?

OverAndAbove · 03/01/2017 21:14

Isn't it lead ore? In which case it would be Galena. I much prefer Geraldine as suggested by the pp

lljkk · 03/01/2017 21:12

hen?... in Spanish I think it's Gallina... too close for me.

I think Geraldine nn Gigi could work (or simply Gina).

Threelittlerobins · 03/01/2017 21:11

I like it. Are you Russian?
