I think one should really commit to this idea and go for Brunhilda :)!
Or maybe Hildegard? Griselda?

I think Benilda sounds too much like Ben and Hildas' retirement bungalow on the south coast. Grin

Unusual and sounds similar. May avoid the Billie NN if you dont like that.

i think the name Benilda was used in a famous ballet although I dont remember which one.

Yes, I like it and think it's due a comeback :-) It reminds me of Purcell's opera with the song "Ah Belinda".

I went to school with a Belinda and she was always called Bellender by the mean kids. I wouldn't wish that on anyone op.

Belinda is pretty. We've just named a Happyland figure that! I'd say it's due a resurgence.
Billie I associate with Holliday. I like that a lot too, but wouldn't use it for Belinda unless the Belinda turned out to be rather a tough nut.

I love it and have never heard a Belinda being called Bellend! The Belinda I knew at school was a lovely girl. I think thats why Ive always liked the name.

I would never ever think that Billie was a nn for Belinda and wouldn't make the connection if I heard it in real life.

I know one Belinda who had the nn Bindy at school but mainly just goes by Belinda now. I know a very posh one who was nn'd Bels or Bell.

I quite like Belinda as a name.

When I was growing up my parents were friendly with a nice couple who had a daughter called Belinda. She was a couple of years older than me, tall and very slim with long dark hair. I wanted to be Belinda.

Nobody ever called her anything but the full version of her name. I think I like it because it reminds me of her, whereas I used to hate the name Beverley because the only one I knew was a right bitch.
