I find it funny everyone is saying Elijah is so popular, my DGS (8 weeks old) is Elijah and my daughter has been told so many times ''I've never heard of that name'' perhaps it's just not popular in Scotland.

Great names. But how are you pronouncing Elias? I always thought it was El-eye-us but I have met two children called Elias recently who pronounce it Elly-us. So like Elliot but ending in S.

Anyway I love Elijah and Elliott but both are getting quite popular, as is Eli. I know 3 children under 5 called Eli, two of which are actually Elijah. I also know an Elijah who doesn't shorten it.

(I work in schools hence I meet a lot of children!)

Elias
Elijah

Elliot

I also like Ezra and Ezekial as E names.

All lovely.

NoncommittalToSparkleMotion · 28/12/2016 01:48

Elliot

MyWhatICallNameChange · 28/12/2016 01:44

Elliott is my least favourite, not that it's an awful name. I just Elijah and Elias a lot more.

SleepEatPlayWork · 27/12/2016 21:57

Purely based on the fact we have a son called Elliott! Depends on your reasoning for the name, we have a one syllable surname so wanted something longer which wasn't routinely shortened. His dad has a one syllable first name and surname and it always sounds quite abrupt to me!

MrsMulder · 27/12/2016 21:55

Definitely Elliot

EweAreHere · 27/12/2016 21:54

Elliot.

But it is growing in popularity.

redheadbarmaid · 27/12/2016 21:53

Definitely Elijah! Love the nickname Eli too.

Never taken to the name Elliot for some reason

SummerScoop · 27/12/2016 21:29

Elliot

sooperdooper · 27/12/2016 20:47

Love Elijah and I've never met anyone with that name (and I've just added it to my own baby name list Grin )

FlouncingInAWinterWonderland · 27/12/2016 20:45

I've only ever known one Elijah, a gorgeous, funny, full of beans, independant thinking six year old. Wonders is I know shylo! Its a lovely name. So is Elias and Elliot.

As someone whose name is always spelt wrong, life bugbare, can Elliot be spelt Eliot too.

1horatio · 27/12/2016 20:39

Love all of them...

  1. Elias
  2. Elliott
  3. Elijah (that's just so popular...)
JunebabyT · 27/12/2016 17:20

Elliot

DragonNoodleCake · 27/12/2016 09:39

Love them all in this order - Elijah, Elias, Elliot

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 27/12/2016 09:36

Elias 😂

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 27/12/2016 09:36

Eliza's.

IAmNotTheOneWhoKnocks · 27/12/2016 09:25

Elijah! Love it!

Then Elias, then Elliot way down in third.

Nataleejah · 27/12/2016 09:01

Elliot

MollyHuaCha · 27/12/2016 08:53

Elias for me.

Shylo · 27/12/2016 08:37

*do often wish

Shylo · 27/12/2016 08:36

I have an Elijah who is 6 and we've yet to meet another so I don't think it's that common ....... but I don't often wish I'd used Elias instead.

As an aside, my DS'a name does not get shortened to Eli - his friends all shorten it to Lija or Lijie so something to consider if that will irritate you. Elias only really lends itself to Eli

Baseballcupcakes · 27/12/2016 08:30

Elijah
