Would it be really awful to call him Robin?

DS is due in May, so still plenty of time to choose but the only name we both see to love is Robin.
Now there is of course nothing wrong with that name - it's lovely - but (as I've mentioned this before on here) DP's surname is Hood. Now DS will have some combination of both out surnames but ultimately he will have Hood in there. So my question is, is it setting him up for trouble calling him Robin? And if so what else can we call him??

Yes but cosmic "Robert" isn't the same as "Robin"

No, I'm sorry, you'd be setting him up to be teased.

IHeartKingThistle · 24/12/2016 08:37

I taught someone with a double-barrelled first name, one of which was Indiana, and a double-barrelled surname, one of which was Jones. It was still funny, sorry.

Cosmicglitterpug · 24/12/2016 08:36

My dad is. Robert with the middle name Hood (Scottish). Will the Hood be completely middle? Or will be Robin Smith Hood?

addstudentdinners2 · 24/12/2016 08:35

Even with a double barrelled surname it would sound ridiculous

Manumission · 24/12/2016 08:34

Can't you mesh surnames? Smile

addstudentdinners2 · 24/12/2016 08:34

Haha no you definitely can't call him Robin Hood - the poor boy's life will be a misery.

Rainatnight · 24/12/2016 08:34

It's a really lovely name but not with Hood. Sorry.

SilenceOfThePrams · 24/12/2016 08:33

Hyphenate his last name so the hood is at the end of it, or just give him the last name which isn't Hood.

JennyOnAPlate · 24/12/2016 08:33

No, you can't call him robin.

Evergreen17 · 24/12/2016 08:30

I would say no
Robin is one of my picked names and even though our surname is nothing close to Hood I have been worried that people will go oh Robin like Robin Hood.
Confused Now I am thinking maybe you are joking Blush

originalmavis · 24/12/2016 08:21

I know a few (Scotland). Never thought of Robin Hood!

KingJoffreysRestingCuntface · 24/12/2016 08:15

It's fine.

I know a Luke Sky Walker...

InTheDessert · 24/12/2016 08:13

It's a lovely name, but a no goer with that surname. Sorry. Even if hood was a middle name, it would only take one person to spot it, and would never be forgotten..
can't make the link with most of these, but anything here that takes your fancy?

TheMortificadosDragon · 24/12/2016 08:08

Call him Robert and use Robin as a family nickname.

DeepanKrispanEven · 24/12/2016 08:08

Sorry, but no name involving Robin Hood is going to go well.
