I love the name Javier especially the nickname of javi, but a little concerned about other people's pronunciation issues, should I go ahead anyway and just keep referring loudly to Javier bardem to anyone who has issues 😀

I'd go ahead anyway, once told people should be able to remember it.

Saying that, I would only use the name if the boy has some Spanish in him. It'd be a bit weird for a couple of Scousers (for e.g.) to pronounce their son's name have-ee-air!

Would say hav-ee-ay. Is that wrong?

I'd probably pronounce Javi as jav-ee, though. I wouldn't connect it with Javier at first glance.

Me too Pluto is vee air

Perhaps it depends On dialect/region of Spanish speaking countries/areas

Would you be thinking of the Spanish or French pronunciation?

Pluto30 · 19/12/2016 21:30

I always thought it was hah-vee-air.

People will say Ja vee er and not Hab ee ay
Depends how much it bothers you.
