Sadie or Sarah?

I know Sadie is traditionally a shortening of Sarah, but think it's considered more of a standalone name now (I don't know any Sarahs who get called Sadie...)

Which do you prefer?

Sarah is lovely. Sadie to me is an old lady name that hasn't come full circle yet, like Doris

Sadie. Sarah is cute for a child but doesn't seem to suit any of the older Sarahs that I know. Plus I was bullied by a Sarah at primary school.

People my age are called Sarah, are married to a Sarah, or have a sister and/or SIL called Sarah so I'd say no to Sarah. Don't like Sadie much.

Sara prn. Saaah-rah just doesn't sound nice in our accent, and it sounds a bit too 'uppity' to me (it's not, of course, it just gives me the same sort of impression as people pronouncing Sasha saaah-sha).

Stella is lovely, but the L sound clashes horrifically with our surname which starts with L.

I like Sara if it's pronounced Car-a. But some people pronounce it the same as Sarah which always confuses me and I can never remember which to call them Confused

Sarah is a lovely name and due a revival. I don't know any little Sarahs so it would be unusual!

miss I've been told, to my face, that I'm the only X name someone has met, who hasn't been a "thick chav". I'd probably prefer people think my name is a little dull.

I think people's opinions on names are so extremely varied, it's only worth taking note if there happens to be a serious leaning for/against a particular name.

Meaning of Sarah - lady, princess, noblewoman (hebrew origin)....I can cope with that since I'm an early 1970s Sarah! 😀

Sarah is such a pretty name. V common in the 80s so was a bit dull then - but not now! Go for it!

There is an old 60s/70s number called " Sadie, the cleaning lady."
