Isobel or Isabel, Joy or Grace?

Just musing. Baby not due until next summer and may not be a girl - if it's a boy DH and I both like Luke William but girls names are contentious. The only one we can seem to agree on is Isobel/ Isabel but not the spelling.

For a middle name I like Joy as it's more unusual, and also the name of a teacher who I loved to bits and inspired me hugely. DH prefers Grace as it's more 'normal' but I quite like it too.

So:

Isobel Joy

Isabel Grace

Or neither?

I'd mix the two and go for Isabel Joy. I prefer Isabel to Isobel.

I'd pick Joy as the middle name, anyway. To me it's much nicer than Grace.

TallulahBetty · 19/12/2016 21:19

Isabel Grace. I really dislike the other spelling, sorry. It might be the 'sob' bit Blush

I prefer Isobel (my daufgters middle name) but I'd probably compromise on spelling it Isabel as it's only a small difference and still pretty if it meant I could have the middle name I wanted. I wouldn't with Isabelle though. I prefer Grace as a name but it sounds dull in mn spot so would go with Joy which also has more meaning for you

Booklover123 · 19/12/2016 19:41

Isabel Joy. May she bring you as much joy as our dd, isabel rose!

SurgerplumSprinklePants · 19/12/2016 19:38

I have an Isabelle. It's my favourite Grin although they are all nice

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 19/12/2016 19:36

Isobel Joy

1horatio · 19/12/2016 19:34

But, Remus, you can't be serious.

You're just a bit loony. ;)

DakotaFanny · 19/12/2016 18:54

Isobel grace. The only joy I have ever known was a total sour puss....irony!

SausageSoda · 19/12/2016 18:50

Isobel Joy. I love the name Joy.

YoullNeverWeeAlone · 19/12/2016 16:08

I have DD who have Isobel and Grace as MN. But would go for Isobel Joy from your list.

CakeRattleandRoll · 19/12/2016 16:05

Isobel Joy

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/12/2016 12:48

Isobel is by far the best spelling. Remus has spoken. Grin

CoffeeCoffeeAndLotsOfIt · 19/12/2016 12:18

My 12 week old is an Isobel Grin

1horatio · 19/12/2016 10:16

Why does it have to be Isabel Grace or Isobel Joy?

Couldn't it be Isabel Joy? I personally simply prefer Isabel or Isabelle. But that's just me.

Grace is a classic and really nice. I think I might prefer Joy, but both are great middle names.

FurryDogMother · 19/12/2016 10:12

Isobel Joy - I'm biased though, 'cos Joy's my middle name, and I like it!

ThoraGruntwhistle · 19/12/2016 10:11

Isabel Joy, or Isabel Grace - both lovely. Not keen on Isobel spelling because of the 'sob' part, it always looks sad.

Isobel Joy.

Dixiechickonhols · 19/12/2016 09:57

My DD has Joy as middle name, no regrets. Grace is nice but very much common filler middle name - the Louise of this generation.

GertrudeBelle · 19/12/2016 09:55

Isobel Joy. Lovely name.

As an aside I watched the film "Joy" over the weekend and was thinking then what a lovely, unused, name it was. V good film too.

MargotLovedTom · 19/12/2016 09:48

Isobel Joy.

KoalaDownUnder · 19/12/2016 09:47
