Names you can shorten to Immy

So I've liked to name Imogen for years!! My first daughters dad hated it so couldn't give her the name, 6 years later I'm expecting baby number 2! My partner said he like Imogen as he knows I've always wanted it....I love that Imogen can be shortened to Immy and would definitely shorten it on a daily basis but now I am going off Imogen and think the name is a bit of a "harsh/hard" name for a baby 🙈 But I will want to use Immy as I LOVE LOVE it! I can't think of any other name that you can shorten to it though :( :( x

Imogen isn't a harsh name at all! Mine gets called Imog, Imogi and Roo lol, we've never called her Immy

Imogen might be a hard name for a baby but if you are going to call her Immy anyway, what does it matter?

Call her Imogen, it's a good name.

I know a baby Imogen (nickname Immy) both the name and nickname are lovely. Also when they are first born most people just refer to them as baby anyway

Personally I dislike Immy as a name too, sorry.

For a full proper name I might pick Imelda or Kimberly.

Immaculata, Imelda... Imogen is nicer than those though. It's a shakespearian name so it's quite classy. Wouldn't have chosen it or Immy for DD but it's fine, not too unusual and definitely not sickly.

Don't worry about the negative comments - Immy is beautiful, very well known, and there will always be people for whom it isn't to their taste. I think both Imogen and Immy are absolutely beautiful (and would totally go for them if DH would let me!)

Yes name changed as I realized after I posted I haven't changed it since I conceived as I haven't been on here for months!
Again another one to add to the unnecessary comments on a name I want for my child! Hmm don't understand why and where it's needed if I'm honest! X

Very surprised loafingaround has not heard of the nickname 'Immy' before. I know two absolutely beautiful Imogen nn Immy's - one aged six and one aged five. Never struck me as twee in my life - it's totally normal!

loafingaround Shock Shock bit blunt! Personally I think Immy is very sweet, I only wanted ideas to shorten it to not horrible opinions saying it's sickly Sad there are so many names we all cringe at when we hear what others have called their baby's but you don't tell them that lol x

Imogen isn't harsh..it's gorgeous and can also be shortened to Mog which is sooo cute!

I'd just call her Imogen if you've loved the name for years and I don't think it sounds to harsh/hard for a baby especially if you're going to call her Immy anyway.

Just call her Imogen. She won't be a baby forever so it's silly to give her a very cutesy name.

Thank you everyone I love Imani and Meilani but my partner still loves Imogen he thinks I come up with weird names Grin xx
