Charles James just doesn't work, and Charlie is fine as a standalone name, IMO.

I don't think the names Charles and James flow well together, both ending in es.

I would definitely go with Charles. Charles James doesn't flow that well but how often would you actually say them together?

James Charles sounds better imo and the nn could be Charlie?

But the j/ch sound and the es ending... I personally think it's a bit too repetitive.

Probably the only time I would choose Charlie over Charles as a full name. I don't think Charles James flows nicely at all.

Charles James doesn't flow well, so of those two it would have to be Charlie James.

Are you set on James as middle name?
