Serena is beautiful and were my SIL not called it, I would have it for my future DD, should there be one. Sorry but all your middle names are awful, not to my taste at all. Lycoris is just strange to say to my mind, Bernadette and Millicent are horrid imo. That said, they are middle names so...

Serena Bernadette is lovely. Agatha is dire and ursula will always have the little mermaid connotations. Don't do it.

Hello again! Just noticed your post and thought would give you some feedback as you've been so helpful with mine!

I love Serena Bernadette! (I love a good bear or wolf name, what can I say!)

Alternatively , I'm going to be controversial and say I actually think Serena Lycoris has a ring to it. (Although I am still getting a bit of a werewolf movie vibe- there was something with Lycans which is werewolves, not sure which film it was now!)

Out of those names Clara is the best. I mean this in a nice way: the others remind me of vampire fiction. Clara Lily would be nice and more conventional I guess. Or Clara Louisa. I actually like lots of the a sound in a name so Clara Susannah or Clara Serena would be ok. Don't use the licorice name though...

I've never heard of Lycoris OP, but do like the look and sound in my head (Lye - corr - iss). I take it Lyra or Lila don't appeal?

I agree that a softer, flowery name suits a strong middle name.

Well, my pronunciation isn't English. So, it's obviously not how the majority of the people living in England would pronounce it. And I'm ok with that. It would still be the same name.

But I do have to check if DH's (apparently supposedly) English pronunciation is correct. Thanks :) (he pronounces The y like in Lydia)

Have you ever met a Lycoris or why do you know the name? And if you have met one, did she like her name?

I've only known Lycoris pronounced as "LIE-coe-riss", OP, so maybe you should confirm the pronunciation before considering it for your child. It's not horrible, but if you don't get it right then she may find herself the butt of a joke or two.

I like Serena best from your first names list.

What about Lasiandra? It's a beautiful flower - I know someone named after the flower called Lysandra, and thought that was preferable to Lycoris but still unusual?

That's really cool and interesting.

Neither of us is Irish or Catholic (not that there's anything wrong with that!!).

Many of my maternal ancestors were actually very invested in Protestantism and the reformation. So, it would be kind of ironic, maybe? :)

I know, the meaning is one of the reasons I like it so much. I think middle names should be about relatives or meanings. And yes, this reasoning should tell me something about Lycoris, I know... Shhh ;)

It's Leecuriss. That's how DH pronounces it.
My pronunciation is different. When I pronounce it it's lee-co-rees. With a 'French' r and a very open lee. But I'm aware that the English pronunciation would be different.

I do care about meanings. But Seren isn't really 'my thing'. Celestina used to be on our list ;)
I actually really like Daffy.
Clarabel reminds me of a cow. Not in a bad way (seriously!) it makes me think of a brown, beautiful cow standing on a pasture munching grass 🙈
Serena Annabelle doesn't flow imo.
I think Serena needs a strong middle name. And Florence or Penelope are a bit too soft.

So, yes, I do like flower names. But I don't think I'd like Serena + flower name.

Name changed for this post, obvs As didn't want to out myself. But I'm a Bernadette. My Mum came from an Irish Catholic family. I hated it growing up (In England) as it was so different. I actually quite like it now, there are too many women in their 30's called Becky, Emma and Sarah imo.

I can't see it being a problem with using it as a middle name OP. I did used to get told the joke "what do you call a woman who sets fire to her bills?" quite a lot. And everyone assumes I'm from Irish/religious decendents so it's a good conversation starter.

I like Serena

If I had a little girl I would call her Millicent. I think Serena Millicent is lovely. I also quite like Serena Bernadette.

Really don't like Lycoris, particularly after you said how it was pronounced. In my head I was saying Lie-COR-iss but you are saying Liquor-Is I think?

Much prefer Millicent to Bernadette, which just looks and sounds ugly to me - sorry. Out of your first names Clara is my favourite

I also thought clitoris when I saw Lycoris I do apologise! And then thought liquorice. Which is slightly better! I've never heard of it before and think it is a bit harsh sounding. Have you considered Lyra or Lydia?

Serena is a ok... have you considered Seren? Meaning star if you like meanings? Or I thought of Celeste when I saw Serena.

Clara... I know one little Clara who doesn't seem to have any problems with the name at school if that helps at all! It's not my favourite type of name but it isn't offensive in any way! My nan had it as a middle name and always hated it as got teased being called Clara Cluck?!?!

Daphne... reminds of Fraiser. Maybe would be Daffy at school?

Bernadette ... not my fave! Have you considered Etta?

If you like long names have you considered.... Annabel, Florence, Penelope, Clarabel?

If you like flower names have you considered any others?

I like Clara the most, not a clue how to pronounce Lycoris (sounds like a disease) but I suppose it's a middle name so go as crazy as you want with it :). Not so keen on daphne. Serena is nice and I think it works well with Bernadette. It's also less common than Clara.

I just like the sound and the meaning of it.

I really don't like Isabelle. And Elizabeth is nice but it just doesn't feel right.

Alice is cute but... just cute (imo). And Rose is a very lovely first name but a bit boring as a middle name. But thank you for the suggestions :)!!

I really appreciate anybody giving me an actual opinion (unlike a certain someone!!). Even if it's just 'these names suck' or 'I love all of them' ;)

I don't like Clara Daphne or Serena Daphne. I don't know why, because I love these names separately. It's actually rather weird. But it would technically be a good idea. Thank you :)

The only other middle name I like for Serena is Millicent. So, Serena Millicent?

Lycoris. It's a flower. Unfortunately associated with the otherworld, graveyards and Nirvana in Japan. I somehow need to stop loving that name. But it's just stuck in my head!!!
