If it was written Danaë I'd want to say dan-ah-ee.

I say Dan AY with the stress on the ay. My classics professors pronounced it that way plus I think it's prettiest. Too strong golden showers connotations for me though!

It's Dan-AY, with emphasis on the second syllable, so almost D'NAY.

I know one. It's considered a bit tacky here.

I would think Dan-aa - in the East of Scotland that would be easily confused with danae which means 'don't know'!

Can also be spelt Danai.
It's a Greek name and in Greek the "D" is actually pronounced like a very thick "th" - a bit like the "th" in "the"
