William or Samuel

Lots of the boys names we liked are out (Henry, Oliver, Elliot...) so our front runners are now William and Samuel.

I keep veering between the two. Which is nicest?

Thanks

William for me

WaitrosePigeon · 11/12/2016 10:43

Samuel is the dullest name I've ever heard. It's so dull it makes me cringe.

William is nice though.

Zebrasinpyjamas · 11/12/2016 10:40

We have both. I think William has a few more abbreviations (Will/Bill/Billy/Liam) etc which I thought was an advantage. Others would probably hate that though.
Both are lovely. Joseph was also on my short list.

William is great.

I don't like the 'yul' sound either, in either Samuel or Daniel.

JunebabyT · 11/12/2016 09:30

DP has now declared he prefers William so I think that's what our boys name is going to be - maybe a Samuel next time if we end up with two DSs!

We are thinking of William Oliver Joseph

I don't like the 'yool' sound in Samuel.

NoncommittalToSparkleMotion · 10/12/2016 21:29

I love Samuel/Sam.

SpeckledyBanana · 10/12/2016 21:26

Samuel. Sam.

Friolero · 10/12/2016 21:25

I prefer William

AmberEars · 10/12/2016 21:24

William

DramaAlpaca · 10/12/2016 21:24

William.

I like Sam very much, but I'm not so keen on Samuel for some reason.

Sparrowlegs248 · 10/12/2016 21:23

Samuel. There are loads if Williams atm. I like William but 4/7 boys at the toddler softly were all named William!

shouldhavegonewithhannes · 10/12/2016 18:43

Like both but not keen on the nn Sam so would go for William.

TangledUpInGin · 10/12/2016 18:38

I love them both but I'm biased Grin

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 10/12/2016 18:36

William, by a country mile

Nanasueathome · 10/12/2016 18:34

My youngest grandson is Samuel, so I am biased

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 10/12/2016 18:33

Samuel also biased though.

Spam88 · 10/12/2016 11:51

William is on our list, but we really like Samuel (but can't use it).

funkygiraffe1980 · 10/12/2016 11:50

I like Samuel, it's on my shortlist Smile

JunebabyT · 10/12/2016 11:28

Interesting - a lot more Samuel leaning than I expected. Any more for any more?
