Hedda, I didn't say the the OP couldn't use it because it is a Jewish (my name is Jewish and I am not). The OP said it wasn't biblical but from Star Trek and I was simply noting that it was a Hebrew name first. For what it's worth it sounds quite masculine to me.

Helsinkimorning · 06/12/2016 19:21

Lie long and prosper MN

bummymummy77 · 06/12/2016 17:51

Yeah, actually, if you aren't in Star Trek you can't use it. YABVVU. Grin

TheMortificadosDragon · 06/12/2016 17:51

xpost, I obviously was agreeing with Helsinki not Soubriquet Shock

TheMortificadosDragon · 06/12/2016 17:50

My reaction exactly, when the other day, DH vetoed a fluffy bobble hat I liked because it looked as though I had a tribble on my head. Grin

Soubriquet · 06/12/2016 17:48

What's not to like about Star Trek

How about the fact it's Star Trek? Grin

Helsinkimorning · 06/12/2016 17:32

What's not to like about Star Trek

HeddaGabbler · 06/12/2016 17:31

It's only on MN that I have come across this school of thought that you can only use Hebrew/French/Spanish names if you are Jewish/French/Spanish etc.

Do people have an issue with this because of cultural appropriation or is it something else?

Anyway, I like Ezri OP. Lovely name.

bummymummy77 · 06/12/2016 17:30

I think it's really nice.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 06/12/2016 17:29

Quite cute, actually... Congratulations on your news, OP

Jooni · 06/12/2016 17:22

I quite like it. Nothing too offensive about it imo.

TheMortificadosDragon · 06/12/2016 17:21

The Star Trek related name I like a lot is Persis - not a character, the name of the actress who played Ilia in the first film. The only other place I've come across it is in one of the Anne of Green Gables series.

Trying to think of any others which aren't either too boring or too odd! Grin

Gardencentregroupie · 06/12/2016 17:18

Haha I thought Dax. Jadzia is nicer!

HardcoreLadyType · 06/12/2016 17:17

Congratulations!

I would say it's not awful. If you like it, then go for it.

TheMortificadosDragon · 06/12/2016 17:17

Oh, of course, Ezri Dax. It's ok, but googling just now there is an Ezri Walker who is a male actor and an Ezri Konsa who is a footballer - so maybe on this planet not such a good choice.

WinnieTheW0rm · 06/12/2016 17:11

Yes, I thought it must be the femal version of Ezra as well.

I think it would work well if you are Jewish, but could seem a bit off otherwise.

SirSidneyRuffDiamond · 06/12/2016 17:02

Isn't it a Hebrew name? The feminine of Ezra?

Soubriquet · 06/12/2016 17:00

It's ok...wouldn't pick it myself but it's not my baby

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 06/12/2016 17:00

No it's awful but congratulations GrinFlowers

Sirzy · 06/12/2016 16:59

Not a fan personally

MsStricty · 06/12/2016 16:58

And, frankly, if you like it, then don't worry about what other people think :)

Congratulations! Flowers

MsStricty · 06/12/2016 16:57

I like it!
