I LOVE this name and DH thinks it's really cool but I worry that it's actually going to just be a stupid choice. I can't imagine that it would be particularly we'll received by our families Grin
Neither of us has any scandi heritage either if that's relevant, it's just a name that we like. Are we mad??
We have a Leo already

I love it! It's a proper cool name. I have a friend whose little boy is Axl (so obvs spelt differently) If u like it then go for it. My youngest daughter is called Austyn & I had so many people tell me how much they hated it & how she would hate it when she was older & how she would get teased etc etc but we love it & it suits her so I don't care. Go with your heart ❤️

Rose or a dog.

RavioliOnToast · 04/12/2016 23:36

I love it. Go for it! M

badtime · 04/12/2016 23:35

I have met a couple of continental chaps called Axel, and thought nothing of it other than it was quite cool.

It reminds me more of Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy in 'Beverly Hills Cop') than Axl Rose.

BigGreenOlives · 04/12/2016 22:57

No problem at all with Axel, I like it a lot.

rainbow99 · 04/12/2016 22:54

I think it sounds quite cute for a toddler, but if I was a 30/40/50+ year old guy I'd probably feel pretty embarrassed introducing myself as Axel when meeting new people

dotdash · 04/12/2016 20:26

I love it.
DS, 14 yrs old has had 3 friends called Axel over the years.

kittybiscuits · 04/12/2016 20:24

It's a really good name. It's a pretty regular name in other European countries.

KlingybunFistelvase · 04/12/2016 20:22

Not my cup of tea and I might wonder if you were a Guns & Roses super fan, but it isn't a bad name. I wouldn't look like this Shock if I met one irl.

Pluto30 · 04/12/2016 20:08

Axel (this spelling) makes me think of a car.

Axl (this spelling) reminds me of Axl Rose, and his name is an anagram for "oral sex".

IAmNotACat · 04/12/2016 20:06

Axel is a Scandinavian name. It's not made up, it's a genuine name.

I like it.

Jooni · 04/12/2016 20:01

I like Axel, and I think it's a lovely fit with Leo.

Stilldreamingofsun · 04/12/2016 15:10

I have a Raphael and if I have another boy he will be Axel! Go for it!!

BonsGirl · 03/12/2016 22:48

I like it! And it's Axl Rose so slight different spelling there!

Crunchymum · 03/12/2016 22:34

I am quite a puritan but I actually like it!!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 03/12/2016 21:48

I met an Axel this week. He looked like Viking !

milkysmum · 03/12/2016 21:46

I know a mum at school who's little boy is Axel, I quite like it really although not sure I would have confidence to use myself

DearMrDilkington · 03/12/2016 21:40

JaimeGrin

MrsFogi · 03/12/2016 21:37

This name is frequently used in France and Axele for a girl (which is seriously cool - like my other similar favourite for a girl, Claude).

littleostrich · 03/12/2016 21:36

I met a child that everyone called Axel, but the name on his birth certificate was Alex.

JaimeLannister · 03/12/2016 21:35

Love it.

Would you consider Brick for any future DS's? 😀

IAmALionTamer · 03/12/2016 21:32

Well of course frankieheck would love that name! The Middle actually brought the name to my attention. That and The Gruffalo Wink

I like it, I had a great friend at uni called Axel. He was scandi though.
go for it if you like it, it's very cool.

IAmALionTamer · 03/12/2016 21:30

Bit of a marmite name then!
I feel a bit like you brussel I worry I'll chicken out and regret it later. Got ages to go yet so have a while to decide, I just can't face taking it off the list any time soon
