How do you pronounce Samuel?

I thought it was Sam-yall? (Yall rhymes with ball) of course accents are different, so basically is it 1 or 2 syllables?

I remember a boy in my class at school, our teachers always said Sam-yall, that's where I got it from!

I've never heard Sam-yall. It's 3 syllables, Sam-you-ul.
