Bruno or Diego?

Can't decide between Bruno or Diego!

Will be Bruno Alexander or Diego Alexander.

I was just thinking this^^ about Diego - it definitely has a more modern feel to it IMO, whereas Bruno sounds quite old fashioned. That's why I prefer Bruno though, so totally depends on personal opinion.

I LOVE Diego (and Pablo, and Pedro!) but we have no Spanish links whatsoever so feel like I can't use any of them (esp as have already used a Spanish name on DS2!!!

Isn't one of Nigella Lawson's children called Bruno. I would think you were copying her. No big deal. Ok name but I would think it a bit celeb wannabe.

I know quite a few boys called Bruno but I don't know any British boys called Diego. Diego sounds very Spanish to me whereas Bruno has been used a lot in this country and seems more international.

Both exes of mine, Bruno was French, Diego, Cuban.

I like Bruno best.

Oh crap - I'm really sorry if I offended you OP. I genuinely thought you were talking puppy names :( I hadn't realised you had spanish roots and were naming a baby.

Both great names but if you're not Spanish I'd go for Bruno! (Diego is Spanish for James FYI - for a variant the Portuguese version is Tiago)

Bruno is hideous. If it's got to be between he two, Diego. But I'd be prepared for "Go die" being said to him a lot in secondary school.

Why not use Alexander as the first name if that's one you're set on? Either first name with the surname seems a bit overwhelming tbh.

I love the name Diego, not so keen on Bruno. Diego Alexander is a fantastic name. I have one son that has Alexander as a middle name and it is coupled with a very Portuguese first name (DH is Brazilian) it's a great combination for a multi-cultural child.

If anyone says Diego with two syllables then they are saying it wrong. That would be like looking at the name James and saying Jay-mez or Yah-mez.

I went to school with a boy called Diego, he was Mexican in central London. I don't think anyone ever called him Die-go or Go-Die. That would have been considered a very lame insult. Even back then.

I have a Bruno! He is half Italian. Yes a bit middle aged in some countries but I always associated it with big, kind, good looking men despite the film.
