What do you think of Jack Carrera?

What do you think of Jack Carrera as a boy's name? It's listed on Mumsnet's Baby Name Finder.

Hi

Wondered what your thoughts were either on:

Jack Louis Carrera
Or
Oliver Carrera

I think jack (a short name) goes well with the three syllable surname. Love Oliver but think it's too much of a mouthful with Carrera (too many syllables) . Also, his brother is called Joshua so both will have long first names (we call him Joshua not josh).

Thoughts welcome as baby is now one week old!

I like it, but the 'k' sound leading from the end of the first name into the beginning of the surname could make it a bit hard to say.

Agree with chinlo. I like it! But it might be hard to say - it could become jackarerra or Jack [pause] Carrera. Depends if that bothers you.

Oliver sounds nice with Carrera too. Don't think it's too many syllables.

Louis is a nice MN. How about Louis as a first name?

Thanks - I hadn't thought of the K/C sound but see what you mean. I am tempted by Louis as a first name but have agreed the shortlist of Oliver and jack with hubby so will have to see.

The other thing is Jack is very popular so I wonder if I'll regret it! It's a food strong name though.

Do you think having two boys with three syllable names is too much of a mouthful?

I agree with the K/C sound running g into each other. Don't think 3 syllables are too much - about Alexander, Alex for short, or Benjamin/Benediction, Ben for short?

I don't think the first name having 3 syllables is a problem at all. I think it sounds pretty good actually.

Thank you all! Am now thinking I should go for Louis!! Such a difficult decision as can't really change your mind once you e announced it. !

Thank you so much for your advice! Astonishingly, I still haven't decided...! Baby now seven weeks. Registered him as jack Louis at the registry but haven't made the announcement to friends and family to give myself some leeway in case I want to change it. Have now thought about it so much that I'm paralysed and can't seem to make a decision :-( I have thought of nothing else since the birth and am driving myself and family mad + my son needs a name!
Any tips for making a final decision?
How likely is it that my son will get picked on because of the similarity to the strain of cannabis (thanks so much for pointing it out :)).?

We have a Jack Oscar and it really suits him. Just remember that popularity is regional. We live in East Anglia and my Jack was the only Jack for 2 years in his Infants school! Loads of Williams, Oliver's and Harry's though! It's a strong name op, I love it with the surname x

I think Jack Louis Carrera sound like a super cool detective living in 1950s New York (a good thing!).

Oliver is a little dull by comparison.

Oh and I really doubt many people have heard of the strain of cannabis (certainly not a nursery/primary school Shock) and by the time he's a teen all the strains will have changed.

We've just been calling him "baby" day to day.
I have also been considering Louis as a first name but when i say it out loud it sounds a bit feminine and I read a thread on here where a mum said her son was called Louis and it got mispronounced as Lewis and abbreviated to Lou which has put me off...see what I mean about over thinking it?! X

Maybe try calling his Jack for a full day, then switching to Louis for a full day and then see how you feel? What does his dad think? Personally I prefer Jack to Louis but that's neither here nor there really..

His dad wants me to decide but he likes jack thinks it maybe doesn't go that well with our sn (carrera) and worried about teasing because of cannabis strain jack herer, likes Louis (but thinks it could get mispronounced) so thinks Oliver is the least problematic of the 3
